Patent number: 11983020Abstract: An automated modular vehicle configuration system and method that comprises a Configuration Management Unit in the vehicle that detects assemblies attached to the vehicle and configures the vehicle's autopilot based on the detected assemblies. Each attached assembly comprises mechanical and electrical components, ports and a memory device that contains identification information and data related to the assembly, such as assembly type, propulsion type, position, flight time, manufacturing date. Users can swap assemblies on the vehicle in order to provide different features to the vehicle. In particular this invention relates to drone vehicles that can be configured with different types of propulsion systems with different performance profiles and equipment such as gimbals, cameras, landing gear, measurement payloads and such. The invention also automatically downloads vehicle configuration parameters and autopilot firmware updates.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2021Date of Patent: May 14, 2024Assignee: Watts Innovations, Inc.Inventors: Brian Watts, Caleb Pinckney, Thomas Charles Lauzon, Jacob Dahl, Graham Newton

Patent number: 11138244Abstract: Identifying and visualizing geographic data includes obtaining a set of data including candidate geographic data elements. Metrics are determined based on two or more of: a best parent for the candidate geographic data elements; additional concepts associated with the candidate geographic data elements; and an average distance between the candidate geographic data elements. Then, the candidate geographic data elements are identified as geographic based on the metrics and a map is generated displaying the candidate geographic data elements identified as geographic.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2018Date of Patent: October 5, 2021Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Michael J. Patent number: 10891314Abstract: A system and method for assigning concepts to sets of values. A dataset is selected, wherein the dataset includes a plurality of records, each record including a plurality of named fields, wherein each record includes each of the named fields. Each named field is assigned to a category and a concept is selected by identifying one or more named fields that, when combined, provide a unique value for each record. In some embodiments, the data is organized as a table, wherein the records are rows and the named fields are columns.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2018Date of Patent: January 12, 2021Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Mohsen Rais-Ghasem, Graham A. Patent number: 10580017Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for evaluating the interestingness of correlated data. The fields of a dataset are classified by tagging the fields in terms of real world concepts. A correlation analysis on the dataset is performed to generate a correlation coefficient for each pair of fields of correlated data items. An “ontological distance” between the tagged concepts for each pair of fields of correlated data items represented as nodes in the ontology is determined. A score is generated indicating an interestingness of correlation for each pair of fields of correlated data items based on the correlation coefficient and the ontological distance between the tagged concepts for each pair of fields of correlated data items. By utilizing the ontological distance with the correlation analysis to determine the interestingness of correlation, correlations that may not be obvious to users and unexpectedly correlated may be identified.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 2016Date of Patent: March 3, 2020Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Alireza Pourshahid, Vinay N.
