Publication number: 20030119710Abstract: A vehicular barrier post includes an upper tubular portion and a lower tubular stand-off. The upper portion is joined to a rocking base having a tubular bottom portion telescopically received in the stand-off. The upper end of a tension spring is secured to the upper body portion by a pin. The lower end of the spring is attached to a tension member, such as a chain, which passes through the stand-off so as to be received in a hole in a suitable external support. The chain is pulled past the external support and when the spring is appropriately tensioned, a locking pin is passed through the chain, preventing its reverse travel through the external support. The upper body portion is allowed to freely rock about the stand-off.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2003Publication date: June 26, 2003Applicant: Dicke Tool CompanyInventors: Grant D. Patent number: 6315253Abstract: A quick release mechanism for a sign stand base having support legs pivotally joined to a support flange. The support legs are notched to receive the support flange. A locking pin extends through the support leg and is positioned so s to selectively interfere with an outer periphery of the support flange. The locking pin is mounted for rocking or swiveling motion within the support leg and can be moved out of contact with the support flange, thereby allowing the support leg to pivot with respect to the support flange. A flat spring strip secured to an outer surface of the support leg biases the locking pin to a position engaging the support flange.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1999Date of Patent: November 13, 2001Assignee: Dicke Tool CompanyInventors: Grant D. Dicke, Jeffrey A. Williams

Patent number: 6290193Abstract: A mounting receptacle is provided for securement to a flexible message panel. The mounting receptacle defines a housing for receiving a support rib. A threshold portion is hingedly coupled to the housing portion allowing a rib to contact the threshold portion while the housing portion is bent out of the way of the rib. The rib is telescopically received in the housing portion and, when released, tensions the message panel in a planar message-displaying condition.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1999Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: Dicke Tool CompanyInventors: Jeffrey A. Williams, Grant D. Dicke
-
Patent number: 6186463Abstract: A releasable coupling assembly for support ribs associated with sign panels, and the like elongated support members. Force generated by a knob and threaded shaft is applied to a pressure plate through a lever arm. The lever arm is arranged so as to provide a reduced mechanical advantage which limits applied force to the rib. The lever arm may also be made resilient to limit force applied to a rib being clamped.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 1999Date of Patent: February 13, 2001Assignee: Dicke Tool CompanyInventors: Jeffrey A. Williams, Grant D. Dicke, James George Kokenes

Patent number: 4954008Abstract: A quick release mechanism for locking a tubular leg member to a supporting structure whereby a >-shaped flat metal spring exerts upward pressure on the handle end of a lever arm causing the lower operating end of the lever arm to force a locking pin into the locked position in the supporting structure. The pin is unlocked by pressing down on the handle end of the lever arm. The quick release mechanism may be secured to legs of a supporting device so that the legs can be readily pivoted into a number of positions, particularly an extended position for support and a spaced parallel arrangement for storage.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 1988Date of Patent: September 4, 1990Inventors: Grant D.
