Patent number: 10894509Abstract: A brake light pulser, particularly for center high middle stop lamps, that senses the voltage and current requirements for various types of light-emitting devices (LEDs, LED arrays, incandescent lamps, etc.) and adjusts the supplied current and voltage to the particular type of light-emitting device to which it is connected. A microprocessor with a flash-based architecture is used to process the sensed current and amperage into signals to control a constant current/constant voltage controller to provide correctly configured power to a MOSFET. The MOSFET is controlled by the microprocessor, which stores pulse command sequences programmed in directly over a CAN bus or remotely via a serial data link from a built-in RF transceiver. The pulsed configured power output of the MOSFET is supplied to a brake light.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2017Date of Patent: January 19, 2021Inventors: Greg Paterno, Jeff Hail, Timmy Nguyen, Luke Roe, Kent Wilson

Patent number: 10807513Abstract: A microprocessor-controlled rechargeable brake light control circuit is a compact package with connectors that includes a rechargeable power source, a power supply sensor, and a non-volatile memory connected to a microprocessor. When power is abruptly disconnected, as when the brake is disengaged, there still is enough power to the device from the rechargeable power source for a period of time that allows a microprocessor to store an indication, such as a time stamp, of approximately where in time the pulse sequence terminated. When the brake is again depressed and power is restored to the circuit, that time stamp may be used as a reference point to restart the pulse sequence. Pulsing of the brake light is through a MOSFET switch pulse circuit that receives vehicle power when the brake pedal is depressed and imprints a pulse pattern on that vehicle power responsive to pulse sequence command from the microprocessor.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2017Date of Patent: October 20, 2020Inventor: Greg Paterno

Patent number: 8223033Abstract: Described is a vehicle communication system. The system includes a display installed in, or on, a first vehicle such that the display is viewable by persons in other vehicles or pedestrians proximate the first vehicle. The display is communicatively linked to one or more vehicle systems or a vehicle controller area network whereby based on activation, engagement or utilization of a vehicle system, the display automatically displays a message associated with the activation, engagement or activation of the vehicle system. For example, if a driver of the vehicle applies the brakes, a “STOPPING” message is displayed. Messages may be pre-programmed into the system or custom created and entered by a user. The display may also be used to advertise, alert passersby to an emergency or otherwise communicate with persons in other vehicles or pedestrians.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2011Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: Rising Phoenix Industries IncorporatedInventor: Greg Paterno

Publication number: 20090255534Abstract: A vaporization system for an inhalable substance includes a sealed cartridge. The sealed cartridge contains the chemical solution to be vaporized, a heating element which vaporizes the solution, and a wicking material for retaining the solution and bringing it into contact with the heating element through capillary action. The sealed cartridge may be disposable, having inexpensive elements so the cartridge can be replaced with little cost. Alternatively the sealed cartridge may be fully integrated with other components into a base unit, which may be disposable or may include a refill port which allows a user to refill the sealed cartridge with solution once the contained solution has been fully vaporized. A power source connects to the heating element and is activated by a switch that may be a breath detector. A disposable mouthpiece may be connected to the cartridge. The mouthpiece has an airway through which the vaporized solution is inhaled.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 13, 2009Publication date: October 15, 2009Inventor: Greg Paterno

Publication number: 20080257367Abstract: An improved electronic evaporable substance delivery device delivers nicotine-containing vapor to a user from a smoking device. The smoking device comprises a case having therein a power source, microprocessor, heating element and nicotine-containing cartridge. Microprocessor-controlled heating of the heating element causes air passing thereover to be heated. Passage of the heated air in proximity of the cartridge causes boiling of cartridge contents, and the release of a nicotine-containing vapor. A user may ingest the nicotine-containing vapor via a mouthpiece located at a first end of the case.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 23, 2007Publication date: October 23, 2008Inventors: Greg Paterno, Hal R. Gurman, David Burrows, Kryzystof Babinski

Publication number: 20070223211Abstract: An illuminated menu book has a menu book having at least one cover. At least one flexible electroluminescent lighting sheet is coupled to the menu book. The electroluminescent lighting sheet will illuminate when excited with a voltage at a set frequency. A lighting circuit is coupled to the electroluminescent lighting sheet and positioned in an interior of the menu book. The lighting circuit is used for controlling illumination of the electroluminescent lighting sheet. A power supply is coupled to the lighting circuit and the electroluminescent lighting sheet for powering the lighting circuit and the electroluminescent lighting sheet.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 22, 2007Publication date: September 27, 2007Inventors: John Jeffrey, Greg Paterno, David Burrows

Patent number: 6058192Abstract: A method for decoding and reconstructing a scrambled video signal is provided in which a scrambled video signal is received and the location of at least one predetermined element of the scrambled video signal is determined. Next, a horizontal sync is generated at the proper location of an output signal in response to the location of the at least one predetermined element of the scrambled video signal. Finally, the remainder of the scrambled video signal is output as an unscrambled video signal. A method of encoding a video signal is also provided, which comprises the steps of receiving an unscrambled video signal and producing a scrambled video signal by altering at least one predetermined element of the unscrambled video signal without providing encoding data to aid in the decoding of the scrambled video signal.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 1996Date of Patent: May 2, 2000Assignee: Greg JarqueInventors: Brian Guralnick, Greg Paterno
