  • Patent number: 6105006
Abstract: A secure financial messaging unit (906) includes a wide area radio frequency receiver (804), a selective call decoder (1004), a financial transaction processor (1014), a main processor (1006), and a message origination unit (1034). The message origination unit (1034) operates in at least one of a reply and confirmation mode and a originate and request mode to effect a wireless financial transaction using a local area link (924).

  • Patent number: 5848355
Abstract: An automatic frequency control is implemented in a selective call receiver (100) having a controllable frequency synthesizer (203). The output frequency of the synthesizer an is derived from a frequency reference element (205). A temperature sensor (206) with substantial thermal coupling to the frequency reference element (205) produces a temperature signal representative of an operating temperature associated with the frequency reference element. The temperature signal is coupled to a controller (105) that operates to execute a microcode program implementing the automatic frequency control. Responsive to the temperature signal and at least one set of parameters representing a predetermined temperature versus frequency characteristic of the frequency reference element, a correction factor is generated and programmed in the frequency synthesizer (203).

  • Patent number: 5714943
Abstract: A radio data interface device (201) for facilitating communication of at least one selective call message with at least one messaging subscriber (202, 202', 202"). The radio data interface device comprises a microcontroller (208) including at least one electronic memory (209, 210, 211, 212) and a processor (213), at least one data port (214) coupled to the microcontroller (208) for communicating the at least one selective call message received by a selective call receiver (204) to the microcontroller (208), and a network interface (215) coupled to and controlled by the processor (208). The processor (208) is capable of executing a microcode program, a portion of which functions to maintain a dynamic registry of messaging subscribers in the at least one electronic memory (209, 210, 211, 212).

  • Patent number: 5710639
Abstract: A selective call receiver includes a receiver (103), a controller (105), and a display (113) for presenting a recovered source document. The receiver (103) provides a received paging message that was generated from the facsimile message of the original source document (208). The received paging message is interpreted and decoded by the controller (105). Using the display (113), a decoded scan line compressed document (1101) is presented in a format that substantially resembles the facsimile message of the original source document (1100).
