  • Publication number: 20090134263
Abstract: A method for avoiding ribbon windings in producing cross-wound bobbins at the workstations of textile machines in the “random winding” type of winding, by changing the traversing speed at which the thread is wound onto the bobbin. Each workstation has a single motor drive activated for the rotation of the cross-wound bobbin, and a single motor drive activated for a traversing thread guide. The diameters (DSP k) of the bobbin (8) which are critical with regarding to the development of ribbon windings depending on the width (BSp) of the bobbin (8) and a cross-winding angle (?) are determined, and, shortly before reaching each critical diameter (DSP k), the cross-winding angle (?) is changed to a value (?1), which avoids development of ribbon windings in this diameter region, and the cross-winding angle (?1) is reset to its original value (?) after the critical diameter (DSP k) has been passed.

  • Patent number: 5115631
Abstract: An apparatus for transporting sliver cans between a sliver can handling location and a textile spinning machine includes a rod member having a plurality of uniformly spaced engaging members. A pair of preferably plastic, parallel sliding rails each extend parallel to the rod member on a respective side thereof for supporting the sliver cans for sliding movement therealong. The rod member is supported for axial and rotational movement and is operatively connected to a drive device which cyclically axially displaces the rod member by a uniform amount of travel corresponding to a uniform spacing between the sliver cans. The rod member is rotated 90.degree. to move the engaging members between horizontal disengage positions in which they are out of engagement with the sliver cans and vertical engage positions in which the engaging members project vertically for engaging the bottom rim portions of the sliver cans during axial displacement of the rod member.

  • Patent number: 4995140
Abstract: A sliver can transporting apparatus and method for circulating sliver cans between a draw frame and a sliver supply station includes an inner track component and an outer track component. The outer track component transports empty sliver cans from the draw frame to a sliver supply station and the inner track component transports full sliver cans from the sliver supply station to form a row of full sliver cans at a final can ready position. Longitudinal bar members are selectively operated to transfer the full sliver cans in groupwise manner from the inner track components to the outer track component to allow another row of full cans to be supplied to the final can ready position and to transfer the rows of full sliver cans to the double rows of the draw frame. In correspondence with the transfer of the full sliver cans to the draw frame, empty sliver cans are discharged from the draw frame to be transported along the outer track component to a sliver supply station for refilling.

  • Patent number: 4828191
Abstract: A method for sorting cheeses on an automatic winding machine includes predetermining a set-point value ratio of yarn length to cheese diameter. An actual value ratio of yarn length to cheese diameter is automatically measured. The measured values are automatically compared with the set-point values. Cheeses for which the actual value ratio of yarn length to cheese diameter is within a predetermined range of the set-point value ratio are automatically selected as quality cheeses.

  • Patent number: 4702433
Abstract: A coil carrier whose shell may be rigid (3; 20) or axially and/or radially compressible (37), has an end ring (1) and an upper ring (2). The upper ring (2) is provided with an axially projecting collar (14) which can be fitted inside the end ring (1) of an adjacent coil carrier of identical construction, at the same time leaving room for a thread reserve which is provided on the collar (14) and thus accommodated in a protected manner, particularly if coil carriers of this kind are placed axially one above the other and the coils located thereon are compressed axially. The measure by which the collar (14)of one coil can be inserted in an axially adjacent coil carrier can be determined by shoulders (9, 13) and extensions (10, 15). This measure can be determined in such a way that a thread can be fed from the thread reserve to a package to be produced or already present on the coil carrier, without becoming jammed.
