  • Publication number: 20220094220
Abstract: Various examples are provided related to 3D airgap electric machines and winding embedded liquid cooling. In one example, an electric machine includes a stator assembly with stator windings supported by a stator core and an outer rotor assembly includes a radial plate surrounding the stator assembly and an endplate at a first end of the radial plate adjacent to the first end of the stator core. The stator windings can include a first portion extending along an axial length of the stator core and a second portion at a first end of the stator core that extends radially inward towards a shaft of the electric machine. The radial plate can include magnets distributed about the radial plate. In another example, a stator assembly includes stator windings supported by a stator core with a winding support including cooling channels distributed between the stator windings. The winding support can be nonmagnetic.

  • Patent number: 9316189
Abstract: A fuel injection device and associated method are provided. An injector body defines an axial bore and has a nozzle exit extending into the combustion chamber. The injector body receives fuel within the bore and channels the fuel through the nozzle exit into the combustion chamber. A flow rate control member is movably disposed within the injector body bore and is actuatable by a first actuator to move with respect to and to interact with the nozzle exit to control a flow rate of the channeled fuel. A pintle member is movably disposed within a flow rate control member bore and is actuatable by a second actuator, independently of the flow rate control member, to move with respect to the flow rate control member and to interact with the nozzle exit to control a spray angle of the channeled fuel. The flow rate and spray angle are thereby independently controllable.

  • Patent number: 8579806
Abstract: A retraction device adapted to retract tissue is provided, comprising at least one pair of opposed retraction members, with each retraction member being capable of operably engaging the tissue to be retracted. A drive mechanism is operably engaged with at least one of each pair of retraction members for separating one of each pair of retraction members from the other to retract the tissue. A measuring device is operably engaged with at least one of the drive mechanism and one of each pair of retraction members, for determining and/or controlling a magnitude and/or rate of a force and/or strain imparted to the tissue by the drive mechanism via the retraction members as the tissue is being retracted. Associated devices and methods are also provided.

  • Patent number: 8295950
Abstract: A refrigerated truck has a power management system for optimally distributing power between one or more energy sources, energy sinks, or energy storage components on the refrigerated truck. One such power consuming component includes a refrigeration unit that cools a refrigerated compartment of the refrigerated truck. Particularly with regard to this refrigeration unit, the power management system is operative to direct power from multiple power sources to the refrigeration unit so as to efficiently use available power. To do so, the power management system dynamically determines the availability of certain power sources and selects a preferred power source based on availability and a defined order of power source preference.
