Publication number: 20240091392Abstract: An endoscopic irradiation device for inactivating pathogens is disclosed. The device includes a control element and a probe that is directed by the control element. A source of UVC light providing a peak irradiation of about 222 nm is integrated with at least one of the probes and the control element. An attenuating element attenuates irradiation above about 235 nm is located in a path of UVC light generated by the source of UVC light. The attenuating element is integrated with at least one of said medical probe and said control element. In one embodiment, attenuating element takes the form of a band pass filter placed between the source of UVC light and biological tissue being irradiated by the UVC light. Alternatively, the attenuating element is a dopant disposed within a crystalline structure of a light emitting diode that restricts or attenuates transmission above about 235 nm.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 28, 2023Publication date: March 21, 2024Applicant: FREESTYLE PARTNERS LLCInventors: Jennifer K. Rosen, Benjamin X. Feeney, Gregory D. DeGrazia

Patent number: 11931473Abstract: A handheld light assembly for eradicating pathogens includes a housing. A processor and a lamp are disposed inside the housing. The lamp irradiates surfaces with disinfecting ultraviolet light having a peak wavelength of 222 nm filtered to restrict illumination to between 200 nm and 230 nm within an irradiation zone. A distance measuring system includes a secondary light source generating secondary light and a photodetector for measuring distance of the secondary light to a surface being irradiated by the lamp light being reflected from the surface to the photodetector. The secondary light source is offset at an angle from the lamp thereby projecting the light beam to a central area of the irradiation zone generated by the lamp. The photodetector signals the processor to calculate a vertical distance between the lamp and the central area of the irradiation zone on the surface being irradiated from an angular projection of the secondary light.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2021Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: FREESTYLE PARTNERS LLCInventors: Jennifer K Rosen, Gregory D. Publication number: 20240016962Abstract: A system for eradicating pathogens is disclosed. A lamp is provided that emits a far-ultraviolet C (far-UVC) light generates an irradiation zone. A biometric sensor determines whether an individual is present in the irradiation zone. The biometric sensor signals a processor to determine whether the individual has been exposed to a threshold limit of far-UVC light. The processor determines whether the time an individual has been in the irradiation zone exceeds a threshold limit. If the individual has been in the irradiation zone a period of time exceeds the threshold, the lamp is deactivated. A pathogen detection sensor provides user feedback of the existence pathogens and signals the processor to terminate irradiation or provide user feedback to terminate irradiation. The system and method are included in a passenger compartment of a vehicle to eradicate pathogens on surfaces and aerosol. Threshold limits allow eradication while the vehicle is occupied.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 5, 2023Publication date: January 18, 2024Applicant: FREESTYLE PARTNERS LLCInventors: JENNIFER K. ROSEN, BANJAMIN X. FEENEY, GREGORY D. DEGRAZIA

Publication number: 20220008584Abstract: A handheld portable device for sanitizing a surface or air surrounding a surface. The handheld portable device includes a body that comprises a user input and a UVC light source disposed at the body. The handheld portable device also includes a power source for providing power to the UVC light source. Responsive to actuating the user input, such as by a user holding the handheld portable device, the UVC light source emits UVC light to sanitize the surface or the air surrounding the surface of pathogens. The handheld portable device includes a visible light emitter that, when powered, emits visible light to indicate the surface or space that is irradiated by the UVC light.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 19, 2021Publication date: January 13, 2022Applicant: FREESTYLE PARTNERS, LLCInventors: Jennifer K.
