  • Patent number: 11649116
Abstract: A vertical coin roll conveyor includes a number of coin roll carriers attached to a conveyor belt that moves the carriers along an endless path that includes a vertical ascending or descending portion. Each coin roll carrier is configured to convey a coin roll and includes a support leg that supports the coin roll on the coin roll carrier and a barrier that impedes the coin roll from rolling or sliding off the coin roll conveyor during conveyance of the coin roll along the vertical portion of the conveyor path.

  • Patent number: 9799158
Abstract: A coin processing machine includes a coin support plate having a coin support surface defining a coin path extending from an intake location to a coin removal station. Depressions formed in the coin path reduce the likelihood of coins, particularly wet coins, from adhering to and stopping along the coin path.

  • Patent number: 9493264
Abstract: A coin roll opening device includes a support surface and a knife having an elongate cutting edge extending along the support surface. The cutting edge defines a depth of cut that increases from essentially zero at a front end of the cutting edge to a maximum depth of cut away from the front end. A coin roll drive rolls the coin rolls on the support surface over the knife to cut open the coin rolls.

  • Publication number: 20160314637
Abstract: A coin wrapping machine includes an accumulator section and a coin wrapping section. The accumulator section assembles a coin stack and delivers the coin stack to the coin wrapping section. A puff of compressed air is blown against the coin stack to resist coin flutter while the coin stack is being delivered to the coin wrapping section. The coin wrapping section includes a drive roller and idler rollers that wrap a coin wrapper sheet around the coin stack. The idler rollers do not engage the leading tip portions of the wrapper sheets to reduce the likelihood of the wrapper sheets jamming against the idle rollers.

  • Patent number: 9177431
Abstract: A coin processing machine includes a coin support plate having a coin support surface defining a coin path extending from an intake location to a coin removal station. Recesses formed in the coin path resist stopping of coins along the coin path. The coin support plate forms part of a normally open control circuit that closes in response to a coin jam along the coin path. A controller in the control circuit responds to the circuit closing by stopping the flow of coins along the coin path.

  • Patent number: 8827776
Abstract: A coin sensor arrangement to sense the different diameters of coins in a singulated stream of coins moving along a coin path includes a movable member that is displaced from a first position to a second position by passage of the largest-diameter coins moving along the coin path. When the member reaches the second position, the member actuates the coin sensor arrangement to signal the presence of the coin. Actuation of the coin sensor arrangement can take place spaced away from the coin stream where possible contaminants that might affect sensing are less likely to be present.

  • Patent number: 8474593
Abstract: A coin processing machine for processing coins of various diameters includes an elongate guide surface that guides coins moving along a coin path extending beside and along the guide surface, and sets of first and second coin sensors spaced along the path. Each first and second coin sensor is associated with a respective coin diameter. The coin sensor signals are transmitted to a controller that recognizes the value of a coin associated with a pair of first and second sensors only when both sensors signal the presence of a coin. If only the first sensor signals the presence of a coin, the controller may generate an output signal indicating the presence of a misaligned coin moving along the coin path.

  • Patent number: 8475242
Abstract: A coin sorting plate for receiving and sorting a stream of coins by the diameter and hence the denomination of the coin has a number of coin recesses that extend along the path of the coin stream. Each coin recess is sized to receive a respective coin diameter. The coin recesses are arranged with the recess openings increasing in size in the downstream direction to progressively remove coins in order of increasing diameter. Each coin recess is bounded by a downstream wall that forces a coin in the recess to move off a peripheral edge of the coin sorting plate for collection or other processing.

  • Patent number: 8172654
Abstract: A coin processing machine includes a first stationary finger and a second stationary finger spaced from the first stationary finger and defining a first opening between them to receive a stream of singulated coins. The first opening is larger than the largest diameter coin to be processed by the coin processing machine. A movable third finger is spaced from the first finger and defines a second opening downstream from the first opening. Larger-diameter coins move the third finger to permit the coins to move through the second opening and past the third finger. Smaller-diameter coins that pass through the first opening and engage the third finger are directed towards the first finger before reaching and passing through the second opening.

  • Patent number: 7883401
Abstract: The coin plate of a coin processing or sorting machine having one or more coin slots includes a stationary diverter finger that is attached to the surface of the plate. The finger is located radially inwardly of the coin slot or coin slots and extends downstream to preferably the most downstream slot. A coin that is located radially inwardly from the intended, correct position with respect to the coin slots engages the diverter finger and is directed along the diverter finger radially outwardly and towards the last downstream coin slot so that the coin passes through the slot and is removed from the plate.

  • Patent number: 7735622
Abstract: A hopper for a coin processing machine has a turntable that receives coins and rotates in a first direction to discharge coins from the hopper. A circumferential wall surrounds the turntable, and includes a coin discharge opening and a second opening. A diverter plate extends away from the wall upstream of the second opening. The diverter plate blocks coins from entering the second opening when the turntable rotates in the first direction. The diverter plate directs any debris remaining on the turntable to the second opening when the turntable rotates in the opposite, second direction after discharging all the coins from the hopper.

  • Patent number: 7243774
Abstract: A coin processing machine for sorting or verifying coins discharges coins through one or more coin tubes and includes a disk mounted on a drive shaft by a nut threaded on the shaft. Each coin tube includes a coin bag support with a non-flexible bracket that presses the bag against the support. A high-friction washer is located between the nut and disk to resist loosening of the nut during machine operation.
