Publication number: 20210095549Abstract: A retrievable in-flow control device (ICD) including a device body having a first end, a second end, an outer surface extending between the first end and the second end, and an internal flow path. A wireline connector is arranged at the first end. A latch mechanism is provided on one of the wireline connector and the device body. A flow control port extends through the outer surface to the internal flow path. An equalizer member including a first flow path for passing a first fluid and a second flow path for resisting flow of a second fluid. The retrievable ICD also includes a flow control device establishes a selected pressure drop of the first fluid through the retrievable ICD.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 27, 2019Publication date: April 1, 2021Applicant: Baker Hughes Oilfield Operations LLCInventors: Gregory Hern, Dylan Bulloch, Jonathan Nelson, Zhi Yong He, Luis A. Publication number: 20200408065Abstract: A circulation sub and method of operating a circulation sub. The circulation sub includes a support member having a longitudinal axis and a piston movable along the longitudinal axis of the support member. A release member secures the piston to the support member. A force is applied along a length axis of the release member greater than a selected decoupling force threshold to decouple the support member from the piston, thereby allowing the piston to move along the longitudinal axis of the member.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 26, 2019Publication date: December 31, 2020Applicant: Baker Hughes Oilfield Operations LLCInventors: Larry Thomas Palmer, Gregory Hern, Andrew Ponder, Erik Van Steveninck

Publication number: 20200277837Abstract: A frac plug system downhole tool and method of securing a frac plug system in a wellbore. A mandrel extending from a first end to a second end. A setting assembly is on the first end of the mandrel and is movable along the mandrel. An anchor is at the second end of the mandrel and is expandable to engage the wellbore. A gas generates a pressure to move the setting assembly along the mandrel to expand the anchor at the second end of the mandrel.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 19, 2020Publication date: September 3, 2020Applicant: Baker Hughes, a GE company, LLCInventors: Gregory Hern, YingQing Xu, Juan Carlos Flores Perez

Publication number: 20200277838Abstract: A frac plug system, downhole tool and method of securing a frac plug system in a wellbore in a formation. A mandrel includes a first end and a second end. A setting assembly is coupled to the mandrel at the first end, and an anchor is arranged at the second end of the mandrel and receptive to the setting assembly. The anchor is settable to engage the wellbore. A bottom sub is arranged at the second end of the mandrel and includes a first member movable relative to the mandrel. A gas generates a pressure to shift the first member along the mandrel to move the anchor against the setting assembly, securing the setting assembly in the wellbore via radial deployment of the anchor. The mandrel is separated from the bottom sub to leave the setting assembly and the anchor in the wellbore.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 19, 2020Publication date: September 3, 2020Applicant: Baker Hughes, a GE company, LLCInventors: Gregory Hern, YingQing Xu, Juan Carlos Flores Perez

Publication number: 20070284111Abstract: A tool and associated method allows a liner top to be dressed. Then while maintaining a lateral port closed the tool can be used to circulate while being rotated and reciprocated. The tool features discrete j-slot mechanisms. The upper j-slot allows the lateral port to initially open while the lower j-slot keeps the lateral port open despite movement of the tool in opposed directions in the hole due to a barrier to the pin in the lower j-slot. When enough weight is set or the barrier is otherwise removed, the lateral port can be closed and the test packer set by set down weight with the lateral port closed. After the packer is unset the lateral ports can be reopened and circulation and swiveling on a bearing can occur even if the packer is temporarily actuated from the setting down motion that reopened the lateral ports.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 22, 2007Publication date: December 13, 2007Inventors: Thomas Ashy, Gregory Hern

Publication number: 20060249310Abstract: An improved whipstock design features a ramp having a lower terminus at the location of the expected window bottom. The lower end of the whipstock ramp transitions gradually from a preferably flat guide surface to a more drastic exit orientation that is preferably obtained by going to an arcuate exit of a rather large radius to present a smooth transition from the flat guide surface to an orientation that allows kick-out to occur by the end of the ramp. This in turn allows the ramp end to closely approximate the window bottom to reduce the risk of creation of a pocket near the window bottom that could trap or damage equipment delivered in subsequent runs.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 6, 2005Publication date: November 9, 2006Inventors: Calvin Stowe, Gregory Hern
