An interactive media guidance application implemented at least partially on a user's equipment displays at least one media content listing. A user may then select to record a sample or portion of the media content listing. After the user has subsequently viewed at least a portion of the recorded media content, the interactive media guidance application may provide an option to record an entire version of the recorded sample, record another episode of the media content, record an entire series of the media content, erase the recorded sample, or perform other media guidance application functions.
