  • Patent number: 5712325
Abstract: A method is provided for making a radiation curable silicon containing polyacrylate hardcoat composition based on the use of a dispersion of colloidal silica in a C(3-5) branched aliphatic alcohol such as isopropyl alcohol. A reduction in the use of excess amounts of solvent along with avoiding gelation is achieved while allowing treatment of the colloidal silica dispersion with a alkoxysilylacrylate, followed by the employment of polyfunctional reactive acrylic monomer and stripping of the mixture.
