  • Publication number: 20050055785
Abstract: A sweeping appliance having a housing having dirt receiving enclosure. A slot-like opening is formed in the underside of the housing. An elongate rotary brush having a plurality of bristles is located towards the front of the sweeping appliance. Front and rear wheels support the housing. A lower regions of the housing is bent to provide a ramp up which particles of dust are swept. A deflector is provided adjacent the brush and extending into the bristles at an angular distance. The deflector halts the progress of the bristles until the brush forces the bristles forward of the deflector, the resilience of the bristles causing them to spring forward. The bristles strike the ground at speed where they impact particles of dirt and force them up the ramp and into the internal enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20050028308
Abstract: A brush for cleaning purposes comprising a brush head from which a plurality of bristles arranged in clumps depend from an underside thereof, the clumps of bristles being disposed in at least two groups, a first group in which the clumps of bristles exhibit a variation in orientation from a direction which is substantially perpendicular to the surface to be cleaned in normal use of the brush to being inclined in a first direction relative to the perpendicular direction, and a second group in which the clumps of bristles exhibit a variation in orientation from substantially perpendicular to being inclined to the perpendicular in a direction opposite to said first direction.

  • Publication number: 20030028988
Abstract: A cleaning implement for removing debris from a surface comprises a handle, a mop head, and a joint connecting the handle and mop head; wherein the joint is adjustable and lockable. The joint allows the angle between the mop head and the handle to be adjusted appropriately and then locked into place. Another embodiment of the present cleaning implement comprises a handle and a mop head, wherein the mop heads comprises one or more gliders to facilitate the ability of the cleaning implement to glide smoothly across the surface being cleaned. Methods of removing debris comprise the step of contacting the surface with a cleaning implement of the present invention.
