  • Publication number: 20240047757
Abstract: An electrochemical cell has a cylindrically-shaped casing tube with at least first and second lithium sheets swaged onto its inner surface. The first lithium sheet has respective spaced apart first right and left edges, and the second lithium sheet has spaced apart second right and left edges. The first and second right edges and the first and second left edges of the swaged first and second lithium sheets are adjacent to but spaced apart from each other by about 0.5° to about 1° about the inner circumference of the cylindrically-shaped casing tube. A novel process for swaging the first and second lithium sheets onto the inner surface of the casing tube is also described.

  • Patent number: 10446825
Abstract: A closure system for the electrolyte fill port of an electrochemical cell is described. A cell header has an electrolyte fill port comprising an upper opening sidewall extending from a header upper surface to an intermediate ledge located part-way through the header thickness. The ledge extends from a lower edge of the upper opening sidewall to an upper edge of a lower opening sidewall, the lower opening sidewall extending to the header lower surface. With respect to an axis of the electrolyte fill port, the upper opening sidewall has a first radius r1 and the lower opening sidewall has a second radius r2 at the ledge, the lower opening sidewall extending downwardly and inwardly along the axis from the second radius r2 to a third radius r3 at the header lower surface. The second radius r2 at the ledge is greater than the third radius r3 at the header lower surface.

  • Patent number: 9061400
Abstract: A fixture in which an attractive magnetic force is utilized to join two parts of a container or housing together is discussed. The fixture comprises a fixture body portion, a fixture base portion and a removable fixture plate portion. At least one body magnet resides within the fixture body portion and at least one plate magnet resides within the removable fixture plate. The fixture body and plate magnets are positioned such that when they are brought together, an attractive magnetic force pulls the plate towards the fixture body. Therefore, when the respective housing portions are positioned within the fixture, the magnetic force compresses the housing portions together.

  • Patent number: 8580439
Abstract: An electrochemical cell comprising a conductive casing housing an electrode assembly provided with a stack holder surrounding the electrode assembly is described. The stack holder is of a shape memory material that serves to maintain the anode and cathode in a face-to-face close physical proximity alignment throughout discharge. This is particularly important in later stages of cell life. As the cell discharges, anode active material is physically moved from the anode to intercalate with the cathode active material. As this mass transfer occurs, the cathode becomes physically larger and the anode smaller. This can lead to gaps forming between the anode and the cathode. However, the stack holder inhibits the formation of such gaps by maintaining a compressive force on the electrode assembly throughout cell discharge.

  • Publication number: 20080064968
Abstract: Improved methods and apparatus for non-invasively assessing one or more parameters associated with fluidic systems such as the circulatory system of a living organism, when such parameters are potentially affected by other concurrent events. In one exemplary embodiment, apparatus and methods for compensating for occlusive events (e.g., pressure cuff inflation) occurring ipsilateral to the location of parameter measurement are disclosed. Upon passive detection of signal degradation resulting from the event, the apparatus selectively enters a “wait state” wherein further processing of the hemodynamic data is suspended until the degrading event subsides. This behavior mitigates any adverse effects the event might have on the accuracy of the representation of the measured hemodynamic parameter generated by the system. In another exemplary embodiment, the measured data is analyzed in order to classify the type of event (e.g.

  • Publication number: 20080006275
Abstract: Composite mask apparatus for providing positive pressure airway therapies are disclosed. The composite mask apparatus include an upper body and a lower body. The lower body is secured to a lower portion of the upper body. The upper body supports at least a portion of the lower body. A first branch of the upper body may be secured to a first tube of the lower body and a second branch of the upper body may be secured to a second tube of the lower body. An airway interface may be in fluid communication with a first lumen of the first tube and may also be in fluid communication with a second lumen of a second tube.

  • Publication number: 20060094965
Abstract: Improved methods and apparatus for non-invasively assessing one or more parameters associated with fluidic systems such as the circulatory system of a living organism. In a first aspect, an improved method of continuously measuring pressure from a compressible vessel is disclosed, wherein a substantially optimal level of compression for the vessel is achieved and maintained using perturbations (e.g., modulation) of the compression level of the vessel. In one exemplary embodiment, the modulation is conducted according to a pseudo-random binary sequence (PBRS). In a second aspect, an improved apparatus for determining the blood pressure of a living subject is disclosed, the apparatus generally comprising a pressure sensor and associated processor with a computer program defining a plurality of operating states related to the sensed pressure data. Methods for pressure waveform correction and reacquisition, as well as treatment using the present invention, are also disclosed.
