Abstract: Provided are a method of providing a user interface of a portable terminal that may output an affordance image induced such that a certain function is performed in a location in which approach of a touch input device is sensed, and an apparatus thereof. The method of providing a user interface of a portable terminal with a touch screen, includes: checking whether approach of a touch input device is sensed on the touch screen; determining a type of the sensed touch input device when the approach of the touch input device is sensed; and outputting a first affordance image corresponding to at least one function executable using a stylus at a sensed region of the approach of a stylus when the touch input device is the stylus as the determination result.

Abstract: A schedule managing method capable of automatically generating schedule data using data extracted from an image, and an apparatus thereof are provided. The schedule managing method preferably includes: setting at least one recognition region within an image; extracting data from the set recognition region; categorizing the extracted data according to a predetermined categorization rule; and generating schedule data using the categorized data.
