Abstract: The headlight has a light source (10) and a reflector (12) by which light is reflected to a light guiding or deflecting device (18). The light guiding device (18) has a number, advantageousely from a few hundred to a hundred thousand, of individual reflecting elements (22) which are movable independently of each other between at least two different positions. Each reflecting element (22) is connected with an electrically operable adjusting element (26) which is controlled by a controller (30). The light reflected from the reflector (12) is reflectable from the light guide device (18) to form a light beam issuing from the lighting device. Reflected light from each reflecting element (22) in one of its positions forms a part of the light beam and does not contribute to the light beam in one of its other positions.

Abstract: A headlight for vehicles has a light source formed as a gas discharge lamp, a ballast unit connected with the gas discharge lamp and producing high voltage, and a unit for preventing dispersion of electromagnetic radiation caused by the gas discharge lamp. The unit includes an electrical filtering circuit arranged near the gas discharge lamp and having a plurality of components, and a housing surrounds at least a part of the components of the electrical filtering circuit.

Abstract: The lighting device for a vehicle has at least one central reflector (10), which is formed as a substantially closed hollow body. The reflector (10) is formed from two reflector parts (11, 12), which have light outlet openings facing each other. The reflector parts (11, 12) are shaped like portions of an ellipsoid of revolution and are arranged so that their first focal points (Fl) coincide and their second focal points (F2) lie on the peak of the opposing reflector part (11, 12). The light emitting body (16) of the light source is arranged in the vicinity of the first focal points (F1). Because of this structure of the reflector (10) almost all of the light issuing from the light emitting body (16) is concentrated on the second focal points (F2) of the reflector parts. A light guide (18) is positioned to guide light away from each reflector part in the vicinity of its second focal point (F2).
