  • Patent number: 9863358
Abstract: A method for operating a common-rail system of a motor vehicle that includes a common-rail-pressure sensor configuration having at least two signal paths, and that can be operated at a maximally permissible common-rail pressure and at a minimally permissible common-rail pressure. Sensor signals are read out in each case in response to a pressure measurement in a common rail of the common-rail system via the at least two signal paths, and a signal deviation value is ascertained that characterizes a deviation between the pressure values that are each determined on the basis of the sensor signals. The method includes reducing the maximally permissible common-rail pressure by a correction value to a maximally permissible emergency common-rail pressure and/or increasing the minimally permissible common-rail pressure by a correction value to a minimally permissible emergency common-rail pressure in response to the signal deviation value exceeding a predefined value.

  • Patent number: 9611800
Abstract: In a fuel system for an internal combustion engine, the fuel is pumped by a high-pressure fuel pump into a fuel pressure accumulator, from which it is supplied into at least one combustion chamber via at least one injector. A value is provided for the actual pressure in the fuel pressure accumulator. A pressure regulating device using which the fuel may be extracted from the fuel pressure accumulator is precontrolled using a precontrol signal, which is ascertained taking into account a setpoint pressure in the fuel pressure accumulator. A value for a fuel quantity flowing through the pressure regulating device is taken into account when ascertaining the precontrol signal.

  • Patent number: 9328710
Abstract: The invention proposes a fuel delivery device for a fuel injection device of an internal combustion engine, having a delivery pump (10) and having at least one high-pressure pump (16). By means of the delivery pump (10), fuel from a storage container (12) is delivered to the suction side of the high-pressure pump (16), and fuel is delivered into a high-pressure region (18) by the high-pressure pump (16). The delivery pump (10) has an adjustable displacement volume, which means that a variable quantity of fuel can be conveyed at the same rotational speed.

  • Patent number: 9057347
Abstract: A method for determining a characteristic for a pressure regulating valve of an injection system is described, using which fuel is injected into an internal combustion engine, in which a flow of the fuel which flows through the pressure regulating valve is set to a minimum and a control pressure of the fuel is reduced until the pressure regulating valve is opened, and in which at least one value for the characteristic is formed from a difference between a value for the control pressure, at which the pressure regulating valve opens, and a reference value for the control pressure.

  • Patent number: 8583347
Abstract: A method for determining at least one rail pressure/closing current value pair for a pressure control valve of a common rail injection system of an internal combustion engine includes the following steps: operating the common rail injection system in an MU control mode; reducing the control current for the pressure control valve; detecting the pressure curve over time in the common rail and determining the rail pressure; determining the closing current based on the detected pressure curve; and associating the determined rail pressure and the determined closing current with a rail pressure/closing current value pair.

  • Publication number: 20120037122
Abstract: A device and a method for controlling a fuel metering system, the fuel pressure being controlled as a function of the operating state of the internal combustion engine. When the internal combustion engine is switched off, the fuel pressure is controlled at a first value. If a condition is present which is normal when the internal combustion engine is switched off, the fuel pressure is controlled at a second value.

  • Patent number: 7040291
Abstract: A method for regulating the pressure in a fuel accumulator of an internal combustion engine, in particular in a common rail system is described. The provision of different regulating modes for regulating the pressure in the fuel accumulator is known from the related art. The difference between the individual regulating modes is that, in these modes, only one or multiple independent regulating circuits are active simultaneously to regulate the pressure. A switch-over operation between the regulating modes usually takes place on the basis of different operating states of the internal combustion engine.
