  • Patent number: 6703243
Abstract: A method for detecting protein present on the surface of a sample is disclosed, wherein substances present on a portion of said surface are transferred to a sampling means and wherein, subsequently, these substances are contacted with a reagent capable of forming or changing color upon reaction with protein. Finally, the color changed or formed by this reaction is visually determined. In this method, the substances transferred onto the sampling means are also contacted with a specific type of nonionic or zwitterionic surfactant.

  • Patent number: 5759977
Abstract: A solid detergent composition suitable for use in an industrial warewashing process and in the form of a block of compressed granular material is provided, said block having a weight of 0.2-10 kg and comprising:25-35% by weight of an alkalimetal metasilicate selected from sodium- and potassium metasilicate;40-55% by weight of a phosphate builder;2-4% by weight of a compressing aid selected from low foaming nonionic surfactants, metal soaps, paraffins, talcum powder, polyethylene glycol, sodium benzoate, mixtures of long chain ketones having more than 25 carbon atoms and fatty alcohols, and mixtures thereof; and up to 7.0% by weight of free water. Said block has optimal quality characteristics.

  • Patent number: 5719111
Abstract: A detergent block of compressed granular material is provided, said block having a weight of 0.2-10 kg, being substantially free of phoshate builder material, and comprising a granulated builder material, an alkaline agent and a compressing aid. A process is also provided for preparing a block of compressed granular material being substantially free of a phosphate builder and having a weight of 0.2 to 10 kg, said process involving the steps of(i) granulating a non-phosphate builder material, with 0.1-10% by weight based on the weight of the builder of a co-ingredient selected from polycarboxylic polymer solutions, alkali metal silicate solutions, and mixtures thereof;and(ii) compressing a particulate mixture of said granulated builder material and other components of the block, including a compressing aid, in a mould under a pressure of 3-30 kN/cm.sup.2.
