  • Publication number: 20020032988
Abstract: A process for preparing grit blasting particles coated with titanium dioxide by sinter-fusing titanium dioxide on the surface of grit blasting particles made of a base material. A mixture of finely divided titanium dioxide and grit blasting particles is passed continuously through the flame in a flame reactor, with the aid of conveying air, wherein the titanium dioxide is sinter-fused on the surface of the grit blasting particles over an average residence time of 0.1 to 5 seconds in a temperature range from 600 to 1200° C. An increase in the adhesive bond between metal framework and a facing material made of plastics in dentures can be achieved when metal framework is grit blasted with a grit blasting agent containing titanium dioxide coated grit blasting particles and then the grit blasted and titanium dioxide coated surface is treated with a silane bonding agent.

  • Patent number: 5917992
Abstract: An apparatus for the loosening of wallpaper or the like from a substrate by steam. The apparatus includes a steam generator and a working plate, the steam generator being connected to the working plate by a flexible steam hose. The working plate is formed as a steam bar, which includes a U-shaped housing to which a handle is attached. A cover plate or a side piece can be detachably joined to the housing at one or both ends of the housing. The cover plate or side piece is closed at the end opposite the housing, and by choosing to attach either a cover plate or a side piece to the housing, the working area provided by the working plate can be adjusted. The apparatus thus provides a tool which can be easily and quickly adapted to loosen wallpaper in a variety of situations, including making it possible to steam both entire sheets of wallpaper and small portions of wallpaper in small areas where access to the wallpaper is poor.

  • Patent number: 5447597
Abstract: An apparatus for loosening wallpaper by means of steam, consisting of a steam generator and a steam plate connected to the steam generator by a steam hose, in which the steam generator incorporates a boiler which is closeable by means of a cover provided with a carrying handle and containing an electrical heating element, the carrying handle provided on the cover being thermally separated from the cover. This embodiment ensures that if the apparatus is used correctly, an operator will not come into immediate contact with heated components or hot steam and burns and scalds will be avoided.

  • Patent number: 5370314
Abstract: In a spray gun for airless spraying of paints, the gun body and the handle are formed by thin-walled component parts composed of a chemically resistant, high-strength material, preferably stainless steel, and are each respectively entirely or partially surrounded with a closed covering composed of a chemically resistant material having low density. As a result of this design, a spray gun is created that exhibits low weight and, thus, can be used fatigue-free over a longer time span. Further, no chemical reactions occur when processing aggressive media; damage to the component parts is thus largely precluded. A portion of a hoop guard is detachable and functions as a tool for disengaging a portion of the handle housing a filter.

  • Patent number: 4717074
Abstract: An assembly for providing a number of different size orifices for a sprayer unit, such as a hand-held paint sprayer, has an orifice plate with a number of orifices of different diameters radially disposed near a periphery of the plate. The plate has a centrally disposed pivot pin which is received in a complementary slot in the nozzle guard for the sprayer unit. The orifice plate has a like number of detents in the periphery thereof, and is held in place both within the slot and so as to align one of the orifices with the discharge nozzle for the sprayer unit, by a clip spring having angled free ends respectively received in detents on opposite sides of the orifice plate. Axial movement of the orifice plate is restrained by tightening the nozzle guard which is received by threads on the sprayer unit.

  • Patent number: 4393993
Abstract: A hand held household or hobby type spray gun is provided with a pistol grip housing having a transverse bore receiving a removable piston pump and nozzle assembly, suspending a removable container for the medium to be sprayed, and covered by a removable cap enclosing an electric motor for driving the piston of the pump. The pump and nozzle assembly is locked in the bore by a quarter turn rotation which seats a detent in a recess of the bore. The electric motor is energized from an external power source through a cord carried by the cap or from batteries which may be mounted in a chamber provided by the grip or handle portion of the housing. The housing may be a one-piece injection mold plastics material member, and the removable container for the media to be sprayed as well as the closure gap for the motor may also be injection mold plastic material members. The grip or handle portion of the housing span the rear side of the spray gun and has a front recess embracing the container.
