  • Patent number: 9684188
Abstract: A hinge and joint for a pair of eyeglasses is disclosed. A split frame has upper and lower rim end pieces that bend and extend rearwardly. A vertically-extending hollow shaft is provided on the end of a temple. A spring or springs are positioned laterally between the rim end pieces and the shaft, such that the shaft bears against the spring or springs. A U-shaped housing fits over the exterior top, bottom, and side of the joint and has a pair of aligned slots in top and bottom flanges. A pin is placed through the aligned slots in the housing and the shaft of the temple. Lateral force provided by the spring or springs biases the joint away from the aligned position, and that force, in combination with upper and lower shoulders on the pin, keep the joint and hinge together.

  • Patent number: 7402594
Abstract: Sulfated bis-cyclic compounds that are potent anticoagulants and methods for their manufacture are provided. The sulfated compounds are bis-cyclic moieties comprised of an isoquinoline ring joined to a phenyl ring with the general chemical structure formula (I) where R2 is hydrogen or a sulfate moiety, R3 is either hydrogen or carboxylate moiety; R4 is a hydrogen or oxygen; and R5 is a hydrogen if R4 is a hydrogen, and is absent if R4 is oxygen. Counterions such as sodium may also be coordinated to the sulfate and carboxylate moieties.

  • Patent number: 5565910
Abstract: A data and television network for digital computer workstations that operate on a local area network (LAN) to exchange data. The network includes a private branch exchange (PBX) having a plurality of television ports for transmitting and receiving television signals, an electronic switch for selectively connecting each television port with any other television port, and a control computer (PC), connected to the LAN and to the switch, for decoding data messages received from a workstation via the LAN and controlling the interconnection of the television ports by the switch in response thereto. A software program, stored in and operable on the computer of each workstation, generates the data messages to be transmitted via the LAN to the control computer of the PBX.

  • Patent number: 5402754
Abstract: A cylinder liner for a piston in an internal combustion engine with a cylinder block and a cylinder head mounted on the top of the latter. The cylinder liner is removably inserted in a cavity in the cylinder block, which cavity extends from the cylinder block upper surface down to the crankcase. The cylinder liner is axially fixed in the cavity by the cylinder head and by a bearing projection on the cavity wall, on which bearing projection a supporting projection of the cylinder liner bears. The contact area between the bearing projection and the supporting projection is situated in the region of the bottom dead center position of the lower, gas sealing, piston ring in the cylinder liner. The liner is surrounded by at least one coolant passage around the upper portion of the liner, and by a second cooling medium passage for air which is separate from the passage and which extends down to the contact area.

  • Patent number: 5283789
Abstract: A communication system for transmitting relatively high frequency broadband electrical signals representative of broadband information and for transmitting relatively low frequency baseband electrical signals representative of baseband information. The system includes a length of communications media having at least one twisted pair of wires and a "multi-signal interface coupler" connected to one end of the communications media. The interface coupler has an RF signal port for passing the broadband signals in the unbalanced mode and a data signal port for passing the baseband signals. A circuit connected to the RF signal port and the data signal port, transmits both the broadband signals and the baseband signals in a balanced mode on the communications media.
