  • Patent number: 5670735
Abstract: An igniting system for a projectile propellant includes a combustible support tube having an outer surface and an inner surface; a plurality of throughgoing apertures provided in the support tube; a free igniting channel coaxially surrounded by the support tube; and an ignition transfer charge formed of a pyrotechnical hard foam layer having a thickness between 1 and 3 mm and being carried on the outer surface of the support tube. The hard foam layer is composed of a large-pore inner layer and two opposite surface layers which are of densely closed structure and between which the inner layer is sandwiched.

  • Patent number: 5239927
Abstract: A deceleration device for a submunition unit includes a cartridge releasably attached to the submunition unit. A releasable package including at least one pocket is disposed in the cartridge and is connected to the cartridge by a packaging line. An auxiliary parachute and a rotation parachute are disposed in the cartridge, with at least the rotation parachute being accommodated in the at least one pocket of the releasable package and the auxiliary parachute being disposed in a pocket separate from the at least one pocket. The auxiliary parachute is connected to the cartridge and the rotation parachute is connected to the submunition unit. A deployment mechanism causes the auxiliary parachute to be deployed in advance of the rotation parachute after the cartridge is released from the submunition unit and the rotation parachute to be deployed after the cartridge is decelerated by the auxiliary parachute for decelerating the submunition unit.

  • Patent number: 5081931
Abstract: To provide a complete seal in the region of the rifling, particularly in worn-out gun barrels firing spin stabilized carrier projectiles provided with a metal guide or driving band and a thin-walled projectile connected to a projectile base and having a wall thickness less than or equal to 0.05 times the caliber of the gun barrel and to reduce the ramming deceleration and the radial pressure stresses on the projectile shell during passage through the gun barrel, a plastic ram ring is disposed on the outer surface of the projectile shell in front of the metal guide band and in a region of the shell that is not supported radially by the projectile base.

  • Patent number: 4957035
Abstract: An electrothermal acceleration device, having a housing with a breechblock at one end, wherein a plasma burner disposed at the breechblock includes a plurality of plasma channels which are arranged so as to be electrically insulated from one another and from the housing. Preferably, the plasma burner has a conical shape so as to realize good gas tightness.

  • Patent number: 4458578
Abstract: A trigger device for an automatic firearm having a linear action breech block. The device includes a catch lever movable to arrest movement of the breech block and a specially constructed kinematic chain which prevents the occurrence of an ambiguous intermediate position of the catch lever which could allow the breech block to damage the catch lever and/or linkage elements connected thereto.
