    Abstract: An internal combustion engine comprises an exhaust driven turbocharger for generating a maximum boost pressure in the intake manifold, said pressure being so high that knocking may occur, to achieve maximum engine efficiency. A knock sensor detects engine detonation, and in response thereto causes actuation of a valve for temporarily reducing the boost pressure such that the knocking subsides.
