  • Patent number: 5080853
Abstract: The deep-drawing of plastic foils for producing receptacles uses a drawing punch intermittently movable into a drawing mold and several expansion elements (jaws) radially movable on the drawing punch. The movement of the jaws and the punch is mutually effected to discontinuously move the drawing punch during its inward movement and to stop it for a respective predetermined dwell time. This can be combined with a continuous or discontinuous movement of the expansion jaw elements.

  • Patent number: 5058760
Abstract: An easy-open package has a vessel forming an upwardly open compartment and having an annular rim surrounding the compartment and a foil engaging the rim of the vessel part all around the compartment, having an open tab which projects laterally past the rim, and formed with a tear line extending around the compartment except at the tab and extending around and delimiting of the tab. The tab is unitarily formed with the foil and is connected to the foil by an integral web that overlies and is bonded to the rim. The bond between the foil and the vessel is substantially weaker at the web than elsewhere.

  • Patent number: 5042681
Abstract: An easy-open package has a vessel having an annular peripheral rim and at least one crosswise rib forming with the rim a plurality of upwardly open compartments, a foil engaging the generally coplanar upper edges of the rim and rib of the vessel, formed with a tear line extending around the rim, and provided with an open tab attached to the foil within the tear line, and repsective rim and rib hermetic bonds securing the upper edges of the rim and rib to the foil. When the individual compartments are to be kept separate, the foil is formed with an annular tear line around each such compartment and is provided within each tear line with a respective such open tab.

  • Patent number: 5022551
Abstract: A package has a vessel formed with a rim and at least one rib together forming an upwardly open compartment having a periphery and an upwardly open pocket separated by the rim from the compartment and also having a periphery. This pocket is separated at a connecting location from the compartment by the rib. A foil covering the compartment and pocket engages the rim and web all around the compartment and all around the pocket and is formed with an endless weakened tear line running along and within the periphery of the compartment except at the location, along and within the periphery of the pocket except at the location, and over the rib at the location. This foil is subdivided by the rib into a tearout tab overlying the pocket and a tearout section overlying the compartment and the web has a full thickness web extending over the rib and interconnecting the tab and section. A bond secures the foil to the vessel along and immediately outside the tear line.

  • Patent number: 5002223
Abstract: An easy-open package comprises a vessel part forming an upwardly open compartment and having an annular rim surrounding the compartment and a foil part adhered to the rim of the vessel part all around the compartment, unitarily formed with an open tab which projects laterally past the rim, and formed with a tear line extending around the compartment except at the tab and extending to an outer periphery of the foil part to each side of the tab. One of the parts is formed as a laminate including a metal layer, a synthetic-resin layer, and a relatively weak bond securing the synthetic-resin layer to the metal layer. The synthetic-resin layer of the one part is bonded to the other part along an annular strip running around the rim with a relatively strong bond and the one part is formed in the synthetic-resin layer with at least one secondary tear line at the tab.

  • Patent number: 4896788
Abstract: A packaging means adapted to be filled with a liquid or solid fill material having an opening in a wall thereof sealed by a removable sealing means, the sealing means being attached to the wall of the packaging means in a manner effective to seal the opening by means of a solvent-free thermoplastic hot melt adhesive. A novel thermoplastic hot melt adhesive and a melt of use thereof to attach the sealing means are also provided.
