  • Patent number: 7367755
Abstract: A cutting element for the machining of metallic workpieces has a body formed with an upper and a lower face of which at least one is designed as a mounting face, and a side face that connects the upper and the lower faces, that is perpendicular thereto, and that together with the upper and lower faces forms cutting edges usable for machining. Each cutting edge has two parallel long straight cutting-edge sections and two parallel short straight cutting-edge sections. Cutting corners connect respective adjacent long and short cutting-edge sections. One part of each long straight cutting-edge section is recessed parallel to the side faces by a distance in relation to the adjacent edge sections as well as indented perpendicular to the side faces by a distance.

  • Publication number: 20070034063
Abstract: The invention relates to a cutting element for machining metallic workpieces, especially wheelsets, said element comprising an upper surface and a lower surface, at least one, preferably both, of said surfaces being embodied as faces, and a respectively perpendicular lateral surface for connecting the upper surface and the lower surface and forming, together with a face, cutting edges that can be used for machining and are provided with cutting corners connecting respectively parallel long, linear cutting edge sections, respectively parallel short, linear cutting edge sections, and respectively adjacent long and short cutting edge sections. According to the invention, at least part of the long linear partial edge sections is lowered by a measure in relation to the adjacent edge sections and meshes with a measure thereof.

  • Patent number: 4981057
Abstract: A tool head is clamped in a tool holder by rotating a radial or axial clamping shaft which has spiral camming surfaces urging clamping elements outwardly to engage ramps on the pin of the tool head which is received in a socket of the tool holder. The spiral cam can be a second or higher order mathematical curve and the shaft can carry an ejection cam as well.

  • Patent number: 4951578
Abstract: A tool holder system for stationary or rotatable tool holders in machine tools with manual or automatic tool change, has a tool holder provided with a mechanism for locking the tool head onto clamping surfaces, and integrated liquid coolant supply and a compressed air supply to the clamping surfaces. At the clamping end of the tool holder, a checkvalve is provided in the air supply passage to block incursion of liquid coolant even at high pressures of the latter and thus prevent corrosion and damage which may result from such corrosion.
