  • Patent number: 4831197
Abstract: An improved process for the production of lower aliphatic alcohols by the catalytic hydration of a lower aliphatic olefin in the presence of a strongly acidic cation exchange resin catalyst in a fixed bed reactor and in which a cationic surfactant has been added to the process water is provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 2, 1987
Date of Patent: May 16, 1989
    Assignee: Deutsche Texaco Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Friedrich Henn, Wilhelm Neier, Gunter Strehlke, Werner Webers
  • Patent number: 4396787
Abstract: Formation of undesirable popcorn polymer on the walls of a reaction vessel during thermal dimerization of butadiene is prevented by coating the walls with a falling film of aqueous sodium nitrite solution.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 23, 1981

  • Patent number: 4113780
Abstract: Acetone containing less than 0.2 weight percent water is produced in an extractive distillation of acetone containing appreciable quantities of water by utilizing isopropyl alcohol as the extracting agent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 6, 1975
Date of Patent: September 12, 1978
    Assignee: Deutsche Texaco Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Gunter Strehlke, Gunther Osterburg
  • Patent number: 3979465
Abstract: Process for the production of an aliphatic alcohol comprising reacting an olefin having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms with sulfuric acid to form an ester reaction product, diluting said product with water and steam stripping to remove a lower aliphatic alcohol overhead leaving a dilute sulfuric acid solution, concentrating said dilute sulfuric acid solution in a first stage indirect evaporator, recycling the steam generated in this first stage evaporator to the steam stripping step, further concentrating the sulfuric acid solution in a second stage direct heat evaporator to form a concentrated sulfuric acid solution and recycling said concentrated sulfuric acid solution for reaction with fresh olefin feed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 7, 1974
Date of Patent: September 7, 1976
    Assignee: Deutsche Texaco Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Gunter Strehlke, Gunther Osterburg
