  • Patent number: 11580351
Abstract: A technique is described herein for automatically logging journeys taken by a user, and then automatically classifying the purposes of the journeys. In one implementation, the technique obtains journey data from one or more movement-sensing devices as a user travels from a starting location to an ending location in a vehicle. The technique generates a set of features based on the journey data, and then uses a machine-trainable model (such as a neural network) to make its classification based on the features. The machine-trainable model accepts at least one feature that is based on statistical information regarding at least one aspect of prior journeys that the user has taken. Overall, the technique provides a resource-efficient solution that rapidly provides personalized results to individual respective users. In some implementations, the technique performs its personalization without sharing journey data with a remote server.

  • Publication number: 20090142997
Abstract: A device for the finish machining of circumferential surfaces of substantially rotationally symmetrical workpiece portions on workpieces, such as crankshafts and camshafts, which have a workpiece axis and several workpiece portions arranged in offset manner along the workpiece axis, has a plurality of finishing units, each of the finishing units having at least one finishing arm with a pressing device for pressing cutting media onto the circumferential surface of a workpiece portion and a finishing unit is associated with each workpiece portion to be machined in a machining phase. The finishing units are subdivided into a first group of first finishing units and a second group of second finishing units, axially directly adjacent finishing units being alternately associated with the first group and the second group and the first group of first finishing units is angularly displaced with respect to the workpiece axis relative to the second group of second finishing units.

  • Patent number: 4628793
Abstract: In a pneumatic position controller for controlling the position of a pneumatic servomotor (10) to a value determined by a pneumatic command pressure, the command pressure acts through a movable wall member (30) on a pivotable balancing member (40). The balancing member (40) controls through a baffle plate (52) the outlet nozzle (56) of a pneumatic amplifier (24). The balancing member (40) is axially spaced from a feedback lever (44), with aligned pivot axes. A helical torsion spring (50) has one end attached to the balancing member (40) and the other end attached to the feedback lever (44). The feedback lever (44) is rotatable by the servomotor (10). An advantageous and compact construction permitted by the use of the helical torsion spring (50) is described.

  • Patent number: 4595029
Abstract: Telescoping coil systems 14 and 16, respectively, engage a Z-shaped balance beam 12 at opposite arms 18 and 20 thereof said beam being mounted centrally by a flexural pivot suspension 10. A surface 26 is provided on the arm 18 and forms a nozzle and baffle plate system with nozzle 22. The torque caused by the pneumatic pressure acting on the surface of nozzle 22 is compensated for by a torque exerted by two telescoping coil systems 14 and 16 when an electrical current is passed through. Thereby the pressure at an output 28 is proportional to the electrical current. A flexural pivot suspension provided for the balance beam includes a pair of crossed baffle springs on each side of the balance beam. Each leaf spring has one end attached to the balance beam and the other end attached to a bearing portion.

  • Patent number: 4237359
Abstract: A method of heating metal workpieces so as to minimize scale formation and decarburization using an electroinduction heater, comprises placing the workpiece in the vicinity of the induction heater, reducing the air present in the vicinity of the workpiece to provide a reduced air atmosphere, and heating the metal by an electroinduction heater in the reduced air atmosphere. The air is advantageously displaced by a protective gas and this is done before the workpiece is heated to a temperature of 350.degree. C. A device for carrying out the heating, comprises a thermally insulated hood which has an interior heating cavity which opens downwardly and which is made gas-proof at its sides and top. A thermally insulated bottom fits into the opening of the hood and substantially fills the cavity and it is provided with a support area for the workpiece which, when the bottom is inserted, is positioned alongside the electroinduction heater.

  • Patent number: 4231385
Abstract: A housing has an internal opening or cavity within which is a body. Both the opening and body have a relatively large cylindrical median portion and two smaller cylindrical end portions. Three annular diaphragms interconnect the housing and the body and divide that portion of the remaining opening between the two into four gas pressure chambers. The two end chambers are connected through respective ports in the body to pressures representing commanded value and actual value respectively. The two central chambers are connected through respective ports in the body to pressures representing negative feedback and positive feedback respectively. A fifth port communicating with the negative feedback chamber serves as an output pressure port.
