  • Patent number: 11406937
Abstract: A photocatalyst filtration system for a vehicle includes a housing having an airflow path, and a filter configured to filter air flowing in the airflow path, the filter having a first photocatalyst and a second photocatalyst. The system further includes a first ultraviolet (UV) light source disposed proximate the filter and configured to energize the first photocatalyst, and a second UV light source disposed proximate the filter and configured to produce light having a shorter wavelength than light produced by the first UV light source, and configured to energize the second photocatalyst. One of the first photocatalyst or the second photocatalyst is configured to remove odor from the air. The other of the first photocatalyst or the second photocatalyst is configured to remove bacteria from the air.

  • Patent number: 11331976
Abstract: Disclosed is an HVAC system configured to reduce noise. The HVAC system includes a door having a first and second end. The door includes an elastomer along the first end and a rotatable member adjacent the second end. The elastomer includes a door touch area. The case defines an internal case portion, external case portion, and a case opening fluidly connecting the internal and external case portion. The case is configured to receive the rotatable member of the door such that the door is rotatable about an axis between a first position, where the door covers the case opening, and a second position, where the door does not cover the case opening. The case includes a case touch area with a graining. The door touch area and the case touch area are substantially parallel and in contact along a surface contact area when the door is in the first position.

  • Publication number: 20210260970
Abstract: An air purification system includes a housing having an air inlet and an air outlet, an air circulation unit disposed between the air inlet and the air outlet, and an air purification assembly disposed adjacent the air circulation unit. The air circulation unit may be configured to circulate air from the air inlet to the air outlet. The air purification assembly includes a UV-A light source, a UV-C light source, and a photocatalytic filter configured to activate responsive to light produced by each of the UV-A and UV-C light sources. The UV-A light source and the UV-C light source may be oriented to illuminate the photocatalytic filter and the air purification assembly is configured to purify the air circulated by the air circulation unit.

  • Patent number: 8092285
Abstract: A sensor system (24) for controlling a ventilation unit (22) of a vehicle (20) includes a sensitivity selector (70) for enabling a user to select a setting (76) corresponding to an air quality threshold (94, 98), and an air quality sensor (62) proximate an exterior of the vehicle (20) for detecting an air quality parameter (71). A controller (66) is responsive to the selector (70) and the sensor (62), and is in communication with an inlet air valve (32) of the ventilation unit (22). A method (118) of operating the sensor system (24) entails receiving a current value of the air quality parameter (71) at the controller (66) for comparison with the air quality threshold (94, 98). The controller (66) generates a switch signal (74) in response to the comparison for adjusting the inlet air valve (32) between an outside air mode (44) and a recirculation mode (46).
