  • Patent number: 9012012
Abstract: An apparatus for forming a bend in a composite panel is provided. An angle and a radius bend are identified for a bend. A location of the bend in the composite panel is identified. A slot is cut having a curved flange in the composite panel at the identified location in a single pass through the composite panel with a tool, wherein the curved flange has a shape with a bend allowance width and a bend slot width. The bend allowance width is BA=2?*A/360, wherein BA is the bend allowance width, R is a corner radius, and A is a bend angle. The bend slot width is BS=BA?2K(R?T), wherein K is Tan(A/2) and T is a thickness of the composite panel.

  • Patent number: 5090769
Abstract: A chair includes a pair of spaced inner side walls of plywood or other suitable material. The inner side walls are interconnected by a plurality of cross rods or dowels which pass through the inner side walls and project outwardly from opposed outer surfaces thereof. The outer ends of the rods are received in holes drilled in a pair of outer side walls spaced laterally from respective inner side walls and the outer ends of the rods are bonded to the outer side walls. A tacking strip is applied to the cross rods so that cushions can be placed on the tacking strip. The cushions can be cut from two rectangular blocks of suitable cushion material, such as foam plastic. All of the material can be used from the blocks so that there is no waste of the material. Each outer side wall is spaced outwardly from each inner side wall, respectively, each outer side wall having an upper margin which is complemental to the upper margin of the adjacent inner side wall.

  • Patent number: 3986416
Abstract: Apparatus and method for cutting a piece of synthetic fibrous material to a desired shape is disclosed. The apparatus includes an elongate heat resistive mounting structure having a shape conforming at least partially to the curvature of the desired shape. The mounting structure has an exposed face, and a resistor wire is embedded in this exposed face. Electric power is applied to the resistor wire so that the wire in the heat resistive mounting is heated to melt the synthetic fibrous material as the mounting structure is moved therethrough to cut the material to the desired shape.
