  • Patent number: 6444865
Abstract: Catalyst comprising from 0.1 to 15% by weight of a noble metal selected from one or more of platinum, palladium, and iridium, from 2 to 40% by weight of manganese and/or rhenium supported on an acidic carrier, these weight percentages indicating the amount of metal based on the total weight of carrier. Use of this catalyst in a process wherein a hydrocarbon feedstock comprising aromatic compounds is contacted with the catalyst at elevated temperature and pressure in the presence of hydrogen. Process for the preparation of this catalyst, which process comprises incorporating the catalytically active metals into the carrier followed by drying and calcining.

  • Patent number: 5868921
Abstract: A hydrocarbon distillate fraction is hydrotreated in a single stage by passing the distillate fraction downwardly over a stacked bed of two hydrotreating catalysts. The catalyst in the upper bed contains 0.1 to 15% by weight of platinum and/or palladium and also contains 2 to 40% by weight of at least one of tungsten, chromium, a Group VIIB metal, and an actinium series metal supported on an acidic refractory oxide carrier. The catalyst in the lower bed contains 1 to 15% by weight of a non-noble Group VIII metal and 1 to 25% by weight of a Group VIB metal on an amorphous, refractory oxide carrier. The liquid hydrocarbon product recovered has a reduced content of aromatics and a reduced heteroatom content.

  • Patent number: 5474347
Abstract: A door frame reinforcing plate used for reinforcing a door frame adjacent a lock striker. The reinforcing plate is comprised of a flat plate section adapted to be secured over an interior flat surface of the frame adjacent the lock striker. The flat plate section has a lock bolt opening therein adjacent a first end of the plate section where the plate is bent at right angle to form a flange to overlie an edge surface portion of the door frame. A plurality of holes are provided in the plate above and below the opening for receiving connecting screws which secure the lock striker. A further series of holes is provided in the plate section to receive fasteners which are secured to the frame from an exterior surface of the frame. The reinforcing plate is not visible from outside the door frame, as it is concealed behind the door frame and behind the usual frame moldings.

  • Patent number: 5378351
Abstract: A process for the preparation of a lubricating base oil including contacting a hydrocarbon feed with a catalyst in the presence of hydrogen, which catalyst includes a hydrogenation component supported on an amorphous silica-alumina carrier having a macroporosity in the range of from 5% vol to 50% vol. The hydrocarbon feed is most preferably a slack wax or a synthetic wax. The preferred catalyst for use in the process includes a combination of one or more of the metals cobalt, iron, and nickel, and one or more of the metals chromium, molybdenum, and tungsten on an amorphous silica-alumina carrier having a macroporosity in the range of from 5% vol to 50% vol.

  • Patent number: 5332602
Abstract: A synthetic wood board comprised of an extrusion of plastics material having opposed elongated top and bottom flat parallel walls spaced apart by transverse walls. A wood grain simulation pattern is formed in at least one of the top or bottom surfaces of the board. Two of the transverse walls are end walls, and each have integrally formed elongated connectors which interconnect with connectors of an adjacent one of the synthetic wood boards. A central fastener receiving channel extends longitudinally in the top and bottom walls and aligned back to back. A transverse wall is provided on each side of the fastener receiving panel. The fastener receiving channel of at least the top wall is provided with a cover strip which is removably connectable across a top opening thereof to conceal fastener heads of fasteners secured therein.

  • Patent number: 5271699
Abstract: A process and apparatus for forming a wood grain simulation pattern on surfaces of synthetic articles such as synthetic lumber planks. The articles are fed along a predetermined path on a conveyor surface. A plurality of cutting blades are disposed about the periphery of a rotatable cylindrical element supported on a drive shaft. As the synthetic article is fed under the rotatable cylindrical element which is in rotation, the blades which are disposed across an outer surface of the article on which a grain simulation is desired, cut a plurality of short slits spaced laterally from one another in an offset pattern. These slits extend along the feed axis of the article and simulate a wood grain in the outer surface thereof.
