  • Publication number: 20070078572
Abstract: This method relates to the system of ATM air traffic management with cooperative aircraft provided with a flight management computer FMS, that are linked by a data transmission system ATN to the control authority and that have presented a flight plan to the control authority. It consists in communicating to the control authority via the ATN link, the projections SPWPi,j onto the flight plan LTFP of pseudo-waypoints PWPi,j introduced by the flight management computer FMS during lateral (between two segments of the flight plan) and/or vertical (between two breaks in slope) softened transitions performed by the aircraft at the time of the changes of instructions appearing in the flight plan LTFP. By virtue of this information, the control authority estimates more precisely the actual future position of the aircraft and the changes of instruction, thereby enabling it to increase the safety level in particular for the spacing and separation of traffic.

  • Publication number: 20050283306
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of automatic navigation assistance for an aircraft. A capture zone being a zone in which the aircraft can capture a predetermined vertical profile segment by applying a transition between the guidance submode which the aircraft is in and the guidance submode adapted to the following of the vertical profile segment to be captured, it comprises the step consisting in determining the width of the capture zone as a function of the height h of the vertical profile to be captured and of the speed v which the aircraft has when plumb with this height when the aircraft is not on the profile or at this height when the aircraft is on the profile.

  • Patent number: 6269301
Abstract: Method for piloting a vehicle while making a change of heading. The vehicle follows a first rectilinear portion of a route, so as to meet up with a second rectilinear portion of the route forming a predetermined angle with the first portion. The route passes through the meeting point of the two portions. The vehicle computes and follows a curved change of heading trajectory which passes through the meeting point whose turning center lies on the interior bisector of the angle formed by the two portions of the route.

  • Patent number: 6181987
Abstract: The disclosed method is implemented by a system aboard an aerodyne comprising a processor, a terminal and memories in which there are stored all the information necessary for the carrying out of a flight, the system being connected to the other on-board electronic equipment. In order to define a new flight plan to meet a new situation caused by an event, the method comprises: the interpretation of the event to determine the corrective actions to be undertaken given the context in which the aerodyne is located, the analysis of the possibilities of reconfiguring the flight plan that correspond to the corrective actions, according to predetermined and modifiable criteria, the selection of the flight plan solutions that meet the predetermined criteria, and the presenting of these flight plan solutions in association with the significant parameters that have served as the grounds for their selection.

  • Patent number: 6173219
Abstract: A method for laterally avoiding a fixed zone in an aircraft. The contour of the zone to be avoided is modeled by a convex polygon shape. The planned route is located with respect to the modeled zone. The port and starboard sections of the route for exit and return of the planned route are computed. A predetermined angle is formed which meets with a corner point of the contour to obtain two avoidance routes formed by the exit and return sections of the route and by the portions of the contour. One of the two avoidance routes is then selected.

  • Patent number: 6161063
Abstract: A method of automatically controlling an aircraft to avoid a vertical zone includes several steps. The aircraft first acquires limits of the zone to be avoided. The zone is modeled by a cylindrical volume which is limited by a horizontal contour with upper and lower altitudes of the zone. The cylindrical volume associated with a scheduled route of the aircraft is located and points of entry and exit in the cylindrical volume are determined. A new flight altitude is calculated in order to avoid the zone. A point of change of altitude is calculated to reach an avoidance altitude. The new flight altitude is updated and the point of change of altitude is input into an automatic pilot.

  • Patent number: 6097996
Abstract: A method for avoiding a mobile zone by a vehicle. A vehicle laterally avoids a mobile zone using periodically supplied information relating to the zone to be avoided starting from an initially planned route. The envelope of the zone to be avoided is periodically defined and a circumscribed circle about the envelope is determined. The velocity vector of the circle is also determined as is the portion of the route lying over the path of the circle. If the vehicle has to enter the circle, the computation of port and starboard trajectories for the avoidance of the zone is delimited by the circle. The selection of one of these two avoidance trajectories as a function of the length of the new avoidance routes is computed in the direction of the zone to be avoided.
