  • Publication number: 20120192006
Abstract: Systems and methods for management of replicated storage. Features and aspects hereof provide management of data replication among a plurality of storage systems in a manner substantially transparent to host systems attached to the storage systems. The storage systems are coupled to one another through a replication link. One storage systems is designated the primary storage system and all others are designated secondary storage systems. A common logical volume is defined with a common logical volume device identifier used by all of the replicating storage systems of a replication group and their respective attached host systems. The primary storage system processes I/O requests directed to the logical volume by accessing its physical storage volume and forwarding the request to be replicated to all secondary storage systems over the replication link. Secondary storage systems process I/O requests by shipping them over the replication link to the primary storage system for processing.

  • Patent number: 5174692
Abstract: A drilling tool, such as, a drill bit or a reamer, including at least two helical flutes about the axis of said tool. The tool is remarkable in that it includes an axial channel opening out at a fixed end of the tool designed to be received in rotary drive means therefor, and a plurality of ducts connecting the axial channel to the bottom of each flute. Each duct opens out into the corresponding flute via an orifice and is inclined towards the free end of the tool, opposite to the fixed end thereof.

  • Patent number: 4875155
Abstract: Data is accessed by record identification in a peripheral sub-system having cache and back store to transfer the most recently updated version of one or more records stored in the subsystem where one version of a record may be in a back store and a modified version of the record may be in a cache storage, by a method and apparatus including table lookup means for indicating for each record of each track of each device in said back store whether record data stored in cache is modified with respect to a version of the same record stored in back store; and means responsive to the indicating means for transferring the modified or backing store version of a record in accordance with predetermined criteria.

  • Patent number: 4280857
Abstract: An apparatus and method of continuously drawing and annealing wire in a slip mode. The method comprises the steps of directing a wire successively through a plurality of drawing dies of a continuous wire drawing machine, and from the next to the last die of the machine continuously directing the wire to and through apparatus for annealing the wire. From the annealing apparatus the wire is continuously returned to the machine for a final drawing operation. Before the wire is returned to the machine, however, the temperature of the wire is controlled to provide the wire with metallurgical properties suitable for further processing, such as the final drawing operation.

  • Patent number: 4210012
Abstract: An apparatus for making compacted, helically stranded cable having a circular configuration in cross-section. The apparatus comprises a first set of opposed rollers each having a peripheral concave edge and surface such that when the edges of the rollers are placed together, the concave surfaces provide an opening having a major and a minor axis located perpendicular to each other across the cross-section of the opening. A second set of opposed rollers having peripheral concave surfaces provides a second opening, the second set of rollers and opening being located downstream from the first set of rollers and in line with the first opening. The concave surfaces of the second opening have a relief along an axis that is rotated approximately 90.degree. from the major axis of the first opening.

  • Patent number: 4002379
Abstract: The combination of a supporting member adapted to be rotated at relatively high rotational speeds and a mist lubricating means. The rotational member supports at least one bearing structure adjacent the periphery of the member such that with high rotational speeds of the member, the bearing structure is subjected to high centrifugal forces. The mist lubricating means supplies an essentially weightless lubricating mist to the bearing structure when the supporting member is rotated.

  • Patent number: 3963306
Abstract: A cam actuated assembly for a microscope. The assembly includes a hollow tubular support member and a nosepiece or multiple objective carrier. The tubular member is provided with a cam surface and is symmetrical with respect to an axis which, in the assembled microscope, is off set from and parallel to the optical axis of the microscope. The carrier, which is also symmetrical with respect to an axis, is partially received within the tubular member and includes a cam follower which cooperates with the cam surface. The carrier also includes at least two openings or cavities each of which is adopted to receive a microscope objective. The axes of these openings are parallel to one another and off set from the axis of the carrier by an amount equal to the off set between the axis of the tubular member and the optical axis.
