  • Publication number: 20060021143
Abstract: A frame elevating mechanism having first and second frames vertically spaced from one another. The first frame is configured to be supported on a floor surface. The second frame has a pair of longitudinally spaced elongate guide tracks extending coextensively with each lateral side of the second frame. Lever arms are provided on the first frame and include at the distal ends thereof a follower member operatively coupled to a respective one of the guide tracks. Each of the aforesaid lever arms has thereon an elongate second guide track configured to receive thereon a distal end of one of the arms of a two arm lever pivotally mounted on the first frame. Drive mechanisms are provided which operatively engage the second arm of the two arm lever to effect a change in elevation of the second frame relative to the first frame.

  • Patent number: 6951036
Abstract: A siderail assembly for a bed which includes a frame having thereon at least one pivotally supported arm for movement between first and second positions, the arm having at a distal end thereof a first connection location. A siderail support frame is pivotally connected to the distal end of the arm and has thereon at least one upstanding and elongate guide member. A siderail carriage frame is supported for movement along a length of the guide member toward and away from the siderail support frame and has thereon at least one second connection location. An elongate link is pivotally connected to and extends between the first and second connection locations to effect movement of the siderail carriage frame along the guide member toward and away from the siderail support frame in response to a pivotal movement of the arm relative to the frame to change the spacing between the siderail carriage frame and the siderail support frame.

  • Patent number: 6728982
Abstract: A pediatric stretcher includes a base unit, attached to which are a number of lift assemblies. A frame is supported by the lift assemblies. Attached to the frame is a patient support deck. A railing is coupled to the frame by a plurality of coupling members and is configured to surround the patient support deck. The railing includes four individual rails, including a front rail, a rear rail, a left rail and a right rail. At least one of the four rails is configured to be raised and lowered with respect to the patient support deck and the plurality of coupling members. At least one of the four rails includes a gate that can pivot about a pivot axis. The gate is configured to be released and locked along the pivot axis.

  • Patent number: 6725956
Abstract: A fifth wheel support assembly having a frame with plural floor engaging wheels mounted thereon. A housing configured for movement relative to the frame is provided as is a spring mechanism oriented between the frame and the housing so as to continually urge the housing toward the floor. An auxiliary wheel is mounted for rotation on an axle secured to the housing. A drive motor mechanism is provided and is fastened between the frame and the housing to effect a raising and a lowering of the housing and the auxiliary wheel mounted thereon.

  • Patent number: 6721975
Abstract: An overlapping siderail assembly for a bed having a head end and a foot end as well as a support deck. At least one pair of siderails are provided on one side of the bed, each one of the pair having a generally uniform thickness over a majority of a length of each thereof and extend in a plane that is generally parallel to a plane containing a longitudinal axis of the bed. First and second ones of the pair of siderails each have a head end and a foot end, the foot end of the first one having a first region of reduced thickness on a first side thereof facing in a first direction, the head end of the second one having a second region of reduced thickness on a second side thereof facing in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The first and second regions are oriented in an overlapping side-by-side relation so that there exists no longitudinal gap between the first and second ones of the pair and the thickness at the overlapping location conforms to the aforesaid uniform thickness.

  • Patent number: 5689839
Abstract: Provided herein are bed split side guards with adjacent units presenting at least partly curved ends so as to essentially follow a circular arc shape having its center at the pivot point of one of the sections of the bed mattress deck, thus providing a minimal spacing between the split side guard units during articulation and at any position of the mattress deck, hence preventing patient movement or entrapment through the bed side guard gaps.
