  • Patent number: 5942553
Abstract: The disclosed invention relates to polyisocyanate based aerogels and their method of preparation. The aerogels are produced by mixing an organic polyisocyanate, carbon black and catalyst in a solvent. The invention advantageously enables preparation of filled polyisocyanate based organic aerogels of lower density than aerogels which do not include a filler.
