  • Publication number: 20020101111
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for sound-proofing a wheel, and especially a motor-vehicle wheel (1), which wheel comprises a circular central body (2), a substantially cylindrical rim (3) composed of a rear part (4) and a front part (5), the parts being separated by the plane of the body (2) which extends substantially perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis (6) of the rim, wherein it is composed of at least one panel, associated with the rim (3) and placed parallel to the wheel body (2), said panel including at least one layer of a viscoelastic material and a radial mechanical coupling means arranged at the periphery of the panel in order to be associated with at least one of the cylindrical parts (4, 5) of the rim (3).

  • Publication number: 20020007556
Abstract: Process for producing a motorized land vehicle wheel, in general having a wheel disk and an essentially cylindrical rim, the wheel disk being obtained from a blank plate of specific thickness subjected to several shaping operations, and composed of an essentially flat central part having an opening that serves to center and attach the wheel to the vehicle's axle hub, an essentially conical interior riser, another inverted conical part that defines, with the interior riser, a curved tip that has a large radius of curvature, the inverted conical part terminating in a flanged edge used to join the disk to the rim, a process characterized in that during the forming operation of the flanged edge, the plate is laminated in such a way as to preserve or reduce the thickness of the base plate.

  • Patent number: 5951114
Abstract: A wheel for a motorized land vehicle is composed of a wheel body and a roughly cylindrical wheel rim. The wheel body consists of a roughly cylindrical central part which serves to center and to mount the wheel on the axle hub of the vehicle. It also consists of an interior riser which is roughly conical and another inverted conical part that, together with the interior riser, defines a camber nose that has a large bend radius. The inverted conical part ends in a cut-off edge designed for the connection of the wheel body and the wheel rim. The wheel body is composed of at least two connected circular parts that vary in thickness and/or mechanical characteristics and are butt welded together.

  • Patent number: 5899253
Abstract: Device for sound insulating a wheel, in particular a wheel of a motor vehicle. The wheel comprises a circular central body, a substantially cylindrical rim including a rear part and a front part, the parts being separated by the plane of the body which extends substantially perpendicularly to the axis of rotation of the rim. The device includes at least one substantially cylindrical ring disposed concentrically relative to the rim and including at least one layer of a viscoelastic material, and at least one way to mechanically couple the cylindrical ring to the rim, the mechanical coupling ensuring a binding of the ring on the cylindrical parts of the rim.
