  • Patent number: 10837376
Abstract: Various systems and methods are provided for identifying cylinder knock. In one example, cylinder knock may be identified based on a knock monitor that identifies knock based on output from a crankshaft speed sensor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 28, 2016
Date of Patent: November 17, 2020
    Assignee: Transportation IP Holdings, LLC
Inventors: Habeeb Khan Pathan, James Robert Schreiner, Milan Palinda Karunaratne, Bhanuprakash Haranahalli Panchakshari
  • Patent number: 9951703
Abstract: Various systems and methods are provided for identifying cylinder misfire. In one example, cylinder misfire may be identified based on a misfire monitor that differentiates a single-cylinder misfire event from a multi-cylinder misfire event based on output from a crankshaft speed sensor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 26, 2016
Date of Patent: April 24, 2018
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Habeeb Khan Pathan, Paul Lloyd Flynn, Pritamkumar Gangwal, James Robert Schreiner, Bhanuprakash Haranahalli Panchakshari, Aninda Bhattacharya, Ganesasubramanian Murugesan, Milan Palinda Karunaratne, Daniel Cullen

  • Publication number: 20170314498
Abstract: A method for controlling an engine includes, with a fuel injector, injecting a quantity of fuel into a cylinder of the engine for combustion. The method further includes calculating a torsional power level for the cylinder in response to the combustion of the injected quantity of fuel, mapping the torsional power level to an injected fuel mass, and comparing the injected fuel mass to a reference fuel mass to determine a fuel mass offset. The engine may be controlled based on the determined fuel mass offset.
    Type: Application
