    Abstract: A channel scanning method and apparatus for a wireless network is provided for improving channel scanning efficiency. A channel scanning method of the present invention includes selecting at least one of a plurality of available channels according to a predetermined channel selection formula; broadcasting a predetermined message on the at least one available channel; detecting response messages transmitted on the available channels in response to the predetermined message; and searching for access points on the basis of information extracted from the response messages.
