  • Publication number: 20040080949
Abstract: A laminated retroreflective sheet comprising a retroreflective layer having first and second mutually opposite major surfaces, wherein the first surface is retroreflective to light incident thereon and is treated to bear a predetermined design consisting of graphics and/or text: and adhesive or gripping layer contiguous the second surface of the retroreflective layer; and a transparent protective layer contiguous the first surface of the retrorefletive layer.

  • Patent number: 6657182
Abstract: An attachment for a light unit, which attachment comprises light-detecting means adapted to generate an output signal corresponding to the intensity of light incident thereon, and adjustable attaching means for removably attaching said attachment to an existing light unit such that the light detecting means are positioned within a beam of light emitted by the light unit when operated and are adapted to detect light that is directed towards the light unit, said attaching means being adjustable to allow the attachment to be selectively fitted to a range of different existing light units. Particularly, said light sensing means are adapted to sense light from the light unit that is retro-reflected back towards the light unit.

  • Publication number: 20030106991
Abstract: A light-detector assembly is provided for use with light-actuated, selectively operable, electronic triggering equipment for triggering a wide variety of different kinds of events, particularly performance, entertainment, advertising or information events. Said assembly comprises light-detecting means (19; 53; 80); means for locating said light-detecting means off-axis in relation to a collimated source of visible light (L; 40), light deflecting means (18; 52; 78); and positioning means (14: 46; 74) for positioning said light-detecting means on the optical axis of said collimated source; wherein said deflecting means are adapted to deflect towards said light detecting means, light, such as retro-reflected light, that is directed towards the source.

  • Patent number: 6492775
Abstract: A pre-fabricated stage comprising an integrated visible light-source, a device for directing light from the visible light source away from the stage in the form of a beam of light, and corresponding light-detecting devices for detecting such light that is retroreflected back towards the stage. The stage is typically adapted to support the weight of at least one person, and preferably further incorporates a pulse generator associated with each light-detecting device, and a device for generating an electronic instruction code, such, for example, as a MIDI compatible code, in response to an input from the pulse generator for controlling a sound generator or other device. Thus, a person using the stage may play music or control other devices by cutting beams of light directed by the directing device with his/her hands or other parts of the body.

  • Patent number: 5017770
Abstract: A source of multiple beams of light is arrayed with a plurality of optical transmission and reflection mirrors to provide control of light, sound and motion. The light source can be portable and opened like an umbrella to position the multiple beams of light above a stage. An entertainer, for example a dancer, can move among the beams of light and sensors to produce a desired effect.
