  • Patent number: 9065510
Abstract: A method and system for improving closed loop feedback in transmit diversity communication. In one embodiment of the invention, a predetermined variation of one or more transmit diversity parameters is performed at the transmit diversity transmitter. The receiver compares the transmit diversity parameter values of the received signals to the predetermined variation and transmits to the transmitter a value of a transmit diversity correction parameter. The transmitter may use this correction value to modify the transmit diversity parameter in a subsequent transmission.

  • Patent number: 9060362
Abstract: A method and system for overriding Carrier-Sense-Multiple-Access/Collision-Avoidance (CSMA/CA) without harming the traffic that occupies the channel are provided. The system and method may include for example detecting at a communication node having a plurality of antennas, a preamble transmitted by a co-channel neighboring node operating in compliance with IEEE 802.11 standard within a clear channel assessment (CCA) range of the communication node; and setting uplink transmit weights of the antennas of the communication node, to isolate the communication node from the neighboring node after the neighboring node has transmitted the preamble, to allow the communication node to access the co-channel, by keeping a transmitted signal level of the communication node as received by the neighboring node, below the CCA signal level at one or more of the antennas of said neighboring node. The system may for example implement the method in software running on a baseband processor.

  • Publication number: 20150139046
Abstract: A communication device operating in time division duplex (TDD) mode using multiple antennas is provided herein. The communication device uses receive channel estimation measurements to perform transmit beamforming and multiple input multiple output (MIMO) transmission, based on self-calibration of the various up/down paths via a method of transmission and reception between its own antennas, thus achieving reciprocity mapping between up and down links. Either user equipment (UE) or a base station may routinely perform this self-calibration to obtain the most current correction factor for the channel reciprocity to reflect the most current operating conditions present during TDD MIMO operation.

  • Publication number: 20150141010
Abstract: A system and method for selective registration of a user equipment (UE) to one of a plurality of access points (APs). An indication may be received that each of a plurality of APs have received a signal from a UE. The UE may be registered to the first one of the plurality of APs to satisfy registration requirements associated with the UE. Information may be reported to a controller related to the signal strength of communication received at each AP from the UE. If the signal strength received at the registered AP is less than the signal strength received at one or more of the non-registered APs by more than a threshold amount, the registration of the UE to the registered AP may be rejected.

  • Publication number: 20150050896
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system for transmitting and controlling uplink diversity signals in a mobile communication device. While in a soft handoff situation, a mobile communications device may receive a phase feedback signal from a non-serving base station. The mobile device may calculate a modified phase parameter based on the phase feedback signal from the non-serving base station in order to minimize interference with the non-serving base station, for example, by calculating a modified value of a phase difference in a direction opposite to the direction desired by the non-serving base station. In some embodiments of the invention, the mobile device may determine whether to calculate the modified phase parameter in a direction opposite to the direction indicated by the phase feedback signal of the non-serving base station based on a comparison of power feedback signals received from the non-serving and serving base stations.
