  • Patent number: 8312859
Abstract: An improved rotary engine system has two stationary buffer seals located at the two ends of the minor axis of a rotor housing that divide the rotor housing into two separate volumes. A first volume is an intake and compression volume and a second volume downstream to the first volume is an expansion and exhaust volume. A rotating combustion chamber flow control device (CCFC) is synchronized with a rotor, for receiving compressed fluid from the first volume, for receiving fuel injected by a fuel injector located within a corresponding CCFC, for igniting and burning an air-fuel mixture, to allow combustion products to expand in the second volume, and for transferring the combustion products to the second volume. In one embodiment, the CCFC is synchronized with two longitudinal shafts fitted at centers of first and second housings, respectively, in each of which are located a pair of side by side rotors.

  • Patent number: 8109074
Abstract: An engine system comprises at least a first volumetric device, and a second volumetric device in which said second volumetric device is larger in volume than said first volumetric device, in which, during continuous flow of a compressible fluid from said first to said second volumetric device work is performed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 10, 2003
Date of Patent: February 7, 2012
    Assignee: Newton Propuslion Technologies
    Inventor: Haim Rom
  • Patent number: 7621116
Abstract: An engine system comprises a first transfer positive displacement, volumetric device, at least one second positive displacement, volumetric device, and a transmission in engagement with two adjacent volumetric devices. The transmission has a ratio designed to cause the at least one second volumetric device to rotate at a higher angular velocity than the first volumetric device, inducing expansion of a compressible fluid during continuous flow from the first volumetric device to the at least one second volumetric device while performing work.
