Abstract: A digital camcorder having a function of automatically choosing an audio signal output channel. The digital camcorder includes an operating portion, an audio input/output portion, a channel select portion, an error correction coding/decoding portion, and a controlling portion. The operating portion applies an operation command of a playback or a shooting/dubbing mode. The audio input/output portion inputs/outputs the audio signals. The channel select portion selects a channel for recording audio signals input during recording and a channel for outputting the audio signals during playback. The error correction coding/decoding portion inserts a dubbing flag according to a dubbing flag inserting command during recording, and detects the dubbing flag according to a dubbing flag detection command during playback.

Abstract: A videocassette recorder for independently recording and reproducing two or more video signals on a tape is provided. The videocassette recorder includes a first digital time compressor and restorer, a second digital time compressor and restorer, a synchronizing portion, a first recording and reproducing circuit, a second recording and reproducing circuit, a first switching portion, and a second switching portion.

Abstract: A video cassette recorder (VCR) is disclosed which is capable of displaying the video being erased during a recording operation. Thus, during a recording operation the user is able to monitor the video being erased, so as to stop recording if the VCR has reached a video the user wishes to preserve. The VCR is capable to display the video being erased during a recording operation by doubling the rotational speed of the head cylinder during a recording operation. Since the rotational speed is doubled, half of the time period is used for reading and half for recording. The VCR includes a decompressing circuit to restore the video read during the double speed rotation of the head cylinder, and also includes a compressor to compressed the externally supplied video so as to record that signal at double the normal rotational speed.

Abstract: An apparatus for and process of rotating a display adapted to an image display apparatus so that it automatically rotates the screen to face a viewer. For this operation, the apparatus includes a turntable for supporting the display, turntable driving mechanism for rotating the turntable throughout a predetermined angle, a position meter for outputting a voltage corresponding to the rotation angle of the turntable, an optical sensor for detecting the incident direction of a remote control optical signal, and a controller for controlling the turntable driving mechanism by determining the amount and direction of rotation of the turntable in accordance with the outputs of the optical sensor and position meter.
