  • Publication number: 20090016192
Abstract: The invention provides reference patterns marked on a non-data side of an optical disc. When the optical disc, according to the invention, is installed within an optical information recording apparatus, the reference patterns enable an optical pick-up unit of the optical information recording apparatus to register at at least one reference radial position on the no-data side of the optical disc. The at least one reference radial position is for assisting the optical pick-up unit to record a label on the non-data side of the optical disc.

  • Publication number: 20070002124
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for recording an image onto a label layer of an optical disc by a laser beam. First, the method of the invention divides the label layer into a plurality of unit regions. For each of the unit regions, the method of the invention determines a recording pattern corresponding to each unit region in accordance with the data related to the image to be recorded. Finally, the method of the invention controls the laser beam to irradiate a relative energy on each unit region, so as to form the corresponding recording pattern. Thereby, the whole of the recording patterns formed on the label layer exhibits the image.

  • Publication number: 20060227206
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for recording an image onto a label layer of an optical disc. The optical disc also includes a data layer thereon that has a pregroove, in which a plurality of predetermined address codes are marked. Firstly, the system locates a first position by retrieving the predetermined address codes marked on the data layer. The system then determines a second position on the label layer in accordance with the first position. Afterward, the system records the image at the second position on the label layer by means of a laser beam or ink-jet printing. Thereby, the image is formed on the label layer of the optical disc.
