  • Publication number: 20240074911
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments related to a drape for use in a negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT). The drape comprises a cover layer, a spacer layer, and a wound contact layer. The drape further comprises a support layer and a reinforcement member. A negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) apparatus, such as a suction adapter or a wound dressing may be coupled to the drape applied on a wound. The drape may withstand multiple coupling and decoupling of NPWT apparatuses, and can be stay on the wound during coupling and decoupling of NPWT apparatuses. The drape may be coupled with two or more different types of NPWT apparatuses.

  • Publication number: 20230165724
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments related to a wound dressing for treating circumferential wounds for use in a negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT). The wound dressing can include a cover layer, a plurality of spacer sections, and a wound contact layer. The wound dressing can further include a port for connection to a source of negative pressure and a connector for fluidically connecting each of the plurality of sections with the port.

  • Publication number: 20230105262
Abstract: Negative pressure wound therapy systems, apparatuses, and methods for operating the systems and apparatuses are disclosed. In some cases, the system can include a dressing having electronic circuitry that wirelessly communicates a dressing identifier and/or other dressing information to a controller of a pump assembly of the system. The controller can automatically modify one or more operational parameters of the pump assembly based on the dressing identifier and/or other dressing information wirelessly communicated. Duration of time over which the dressing has been in use can be monitored and provision of therapy by the pump assembly can be disabled responsive to a determination that the duration of time has reached operational lifetime of the dressing.

  • Publication number: 20220379002
Abstract: Embodiments of negative pressure wound therapy systems, apparatuses, and methods for operating the systems and apparatuses are disclosed. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes a negative pressure source, a connector port, at least one switch, and a controller. The negative pressure source is connected through the connector port to either (i) a wound dressing having a canister configured to store fluid aspirated from the wound or (ii) a wound dressing without a canister between the connector port and the wound dressing. The controller determines, based on a signal received from the at least one switch, whether the canister is positioned in the fluid flow path and adjusts one or more operational parameters of negative pressure wound therapy based on the determination. The switch is activated by the connection of either the canister or canisterless wound dressing to the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20220362061
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments relate to wound therapy apparatuses and methods for use in negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT). Such wound therapy apparatuses and methods may reduce maceration during NPWT. The wound therapy apparatus may include a porous hydrophobic layer surrounded by a hydrophilic ring. The hydrophilic ring may serve to prevent passage of liquid while negative pressure is applied to the wound, but allow liquid passage to an absorbent ring when negative pressure is no longer applied. A transmission layer may also be included, underlying the absorbent layer.
