  • Patent number: 10457154
Abstract: A method and a system are disclosed for determining a parameter map used for estimating an operation condition for an energy storage device which may be an energy storage device. The method includes updating the parameter map. When updating the parameter map, a correlation model is implemented taking into account aging behavior of the energy storage device. The model comprises correlation between different parts of the parameter map which enables updating the parameter map at parts which is presently not at a current operating point. Based on the parameter map, an operation condition of the energy storage device may be determined.

  • Patent number: 10330731
Abstract: A method and a system are provided for determining a maximum charge current or a maximum discharge current of an energy storage cell of an energy storage device. The method includes providing a predetermined upper voltage limit or lower voltage limit, and providing a time horizon as a time difference from a present time to a future time. The method also include, with a repetition time period different from the time horizon, repeating measuring a present voltage level of the energy storage cell, calculating a voltage difference between the present voltage level and the upper voltage limit or the lower voltage limit, and determining the maximum charge current or maximum discharge current corresponding to the voltage difference and a model, such that the estimated voltage is within the voltage limits.

  • Publication number: 20180045787
Abstract: A system and a method are for estimating an operating parameter value of an energy storage device arranged to provide power for propulsion for an electric or hybrid vehicle. In an embodiment, the method includes determining a first operating parameter value of the energy storage device at a first time; establishing a reference operating parameter value from pre-determined experimental data relating the operating parameter to a time related parameter; and based on the reference operating parameter value and the first operating parameter value, recursively calculating a second operating parameter value of the energy storage device at a second time subsequent to the first time. The recursive calculation includes a tuning parameter for modifying a portion of the reference operating parameter value to be included in the second operating parameter value.

  • Publication number: 20170361729
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for determining a value of the state of energy of a rechargeable battery in a vehicle, the battery being connected to an electric consumer; the method including: determining the state of charge as a measure of the present capacity of the battery; and determining the state of energy as an indication of at least the remaining charge and discharge energy of the battery. The disclosed method further includes: calculating and determining the value of the state of energy based on at least one parameter which is related to the operation of the electric consumer and where the at least one parameter varies depending on a mode for operating the vehicle or electric consumer during charging or discharging of the battery. Also disclosed is an arrangement for determining a value of the state of energy of a rechargeable battery in a vehicle.
