  • Patent number: 5653509
Abstract: To prevent overloading of a clutch interposed between a driving, or input shaft (2, 112) and a driven, or output shaft (4, 115) upon blockage of the output shaft while continuous rotary power is being transmitted to the input shaft, a plurality of centrifugal weights (16, 117) are located on an output clutch member (14, 116) so that, in case of blockage of the output shaft, centrifugal force will immediately cease and power transmitting engagement between the input and output shafts will be disconnected. In order to permit starting of the clutch, a predetermined small frictional force between an input clutch member (6, 114) coupled to the driving or input shaft (2, 112) and the output clutch member (14, 116) is established, essentially independent of speed, for example under control of springs (22).

  • Patent number: 5180209
Abstract: Recessed grooves are cut into bore hole walls of concrete or rock materials for the purpose of interconnecting two components of such materials at an interface between these components. These recessed grooves are cut by material removing tools which can be pressed radially outwardly, while a drive shaft simultaneously rotates these tools. For this purpose, an axial movement of an adjustment body is converted into a tilting movement of pivotable shafts which carry the material removable tools, whereby the adjustment body is moved linearly by a hydraulic lifting device. The material removing tools extend radially away from the lower ends of the pivotable shaft. The common adjustment movement of all of the pivotable shafts takes place independently of the rotation of the driven shaft.

  • Patent number: 4572580
Abstract: An instantaneous desired cutting position of a milling cutter or circular saw blade in a mobile apparatus for cutting hard materials, such as a concrete highway surface, is maintained even if the mobile apparatus travels over irregular or slanted surfaces. For this purpose the saw blade position is adjustable either by varying the position of the saw blade mounting in a machine frame or by varying the position of the entire machine frame. The position correction is accomplished by a sensor which produces control signals for a position correction power drive in response to pendulum movements which represent cutter or blade deviations from the desired cutting position. The position of the entire machine frame may be varied by raising or lowering a wheel remote from the cutter or blade. Thus, a binding or jamming of the cutter or blade is prevented.

  • Patent number: 4385538
Abstract: A shear for cutting bar stock includes upper and lower cutting blade supports each having a cutting blade, and a hold-down member, all pivotally connected about a working bearing. This assembly is pivotally mounted about a second bearing or pivot axis on one end of a frame of the shear, and is height-adjustable by a lockable hydraulic actuator attached to the upper cutting blade support at the opposite end of the shear, to provide vertical adjustability of the cutting point with minimal horizontal or angular displacement thereof. Preferably, the two pivot axes and the cutting point are coplanar. The upper cutting blade support is pivoted relative to the lower one by a hydraulic actuator engaging the upper support at one upper part thereof which is not so coplanar, to provide both a relatively long lever arm and a relatively long cutting arm for minimizing arcuation of the cutting movement. One cutting blade is adjustable within its support for optimum positioning taking into account the shape of the stock.

  • Patent number: 4026602
Abstract: An apparatus designed especially for mechanically breaking up reinforced concrete and comprising a cylinder containing a hydraulically-operated piston connected to a thrust wedge and acting upon two insertion pieces to be inserted in a borehole in the reinforced concrete or in stone. In order to avoid excessive wear and tear on the components by reducing the stresses to which they are subjected, the apparatus comprises a bracing part rigidly joined to the cylinder by tie plates, and the two end faces of the insertion pieces remote from the cylinder are braced against this bracing part, through which the thrust wedge passes when the apparatus is in operation. Thus the end faces of the insertion pieces can slide on the surface of the bracing part when they are driven apart by the advancing wedge.
