  • Patent number: 6212868
Abstract: The spinning rotors of open-end spinning aggregates are supported on supporting discs. For the purposes of non-contact revolution counting, a front side of a supporting disc is provided with at least one permanent magnet. A signal receiver of a maintenance device selectively arrangeable at the spinning aggregates is arranged at the permanent magnet. The distance between the permanent magnet and the signal receiver is bridged by a ferromagnetic information transmitter, which is preferably arranged on a swivelling housing section of the spinning aggregate.

  • Patent number: 6101803
Abstract: For piecing a yarn end at a spinning station of an open-end rotor spinning machine, the previously stopped feed roller is re-activated for a short pre-feeding period. The fiber beard, which has been thinned out by the still rotating open roller, can thus renew itself. The fibers which are combed during this pre-feeding period are removed as waste when the spinning rotor is at a standstill. After completion of the pre-feeding period, the feed roller is rotated in reverse so far back until the fiber beard leaves the area of effect of the opening roller. The feed roller is activated again for the actual piecing process.

  • Patent number: 5996326
Abstract: A spindle for a spinning or twisting machine includes a step bearing sleeve which is supported in a damping tube. The damping tube is arranged, with clearance from an oil filled damping gap, free floating and radially movable in a bearing housing. The damping gap has preferably a gap width of 0.2 mm to 0.4 mm. The damping tube is provided with radial bore holes, which connect the damping gap with the area of the step bearing sleeve. In spite of even the smallest radial movements of the damping tube, a hydraulic damping as well as a hydraulic centering is possible.

  • Patent number: 5911674
Abstract: In the case of a spindle for spinning or twisting machines, two housings, separated by an annular gap, are provided, namely an outer housing, secured to a spindle rail, and an inner housing which takes up the neck bearing and the step bearing for the shaft by means of supporting parts. The inner housing is connected to a supporting portion by a flexible joining piece, which supporting portion is adjustable and clampable onto the bottom surface of the outer housing. The bottom surface takes at least approximately the shape of a ball cup, whose center point is at most 30 mm away from the upper edge of the outer housing in vertical direction.

  • Patent number: 5775083
Abstract: A spindle for spinning or twisting machines comprises a rigid inner sleeve which contains a neck bearing and a step bearing for a rotatably supported shaft and which inner sleeve is accommodated in a bearing housing, the bearing housing being fixed to a spindle rail. The inner sleeve is supported against the bearing housing by two radially symmetrical acting metal springs. The spring rate of the metal spring which faces the neck bearing amounts to at least five times and at most twenty times the spring rate of the metal spring facing the step bearing. The ring space between the inner sleeve and the bearing housing is filled with a highly viscous fluid. The inner sleeve is closed off against the ring space with an oilproof seal.

  • Patent number: 5402952
Abstract: In the case of a tube coupling system for a spinning or twisting spindle, in the case of which cap-type buttons project away from the outer circumference and come to rest against the interior wall of the tube, it is provided to place in the hollow spaces formed by the cap-type buttons one body respectively with a given mass. Because of the centrifugal force exercised by the massive bodies, the buttons are pressed toward the outside during the rotation of the spindle and come to rest against the interior wall of the tube. During the stoppage of the spindle, no radial force is operative in the case of the tube coupling system so that an axial displacement of the tube, particularly the removal of a full package and the fitting of a new tube, are possible without the resistance of the tube coupling system.

  • Patent number: 5359842
Abstract: A spinning or twisting bearing assembly for supporting a spinning or twisting shaft is disclosed. The bearing assembly includes a spindle shaft neck bearing having roller bodies engageable with the spindle shaft at a first axial location above a step bearing assembly for supporting the bottom end of the spindle shaft. The neck bearing and step bearing assembly are disposed in a bearing housing. An outer housing is disposed to surround the bearing housing with an annular gap therebetween along a substantial length of the bearing housing. The outer housing is fixedly clamped to a spindle rail. In order to isolate sound causing vibrations from the roller bodies of the neck bearing, the bearing housing is clamped to the outer housing only at a position below the bearing housing.

  • Patent number: 5119620
Abstract: A holding arrangement for a spindle of ring spinning or ring twisting machines. The holding arrangement includes a spindle housing which can be inserted in a receiving bore of a spindle rail and tightened by a ring flange and a nut screwed onto an external thread. The receiving bore includes a guide surface for guiding the spindle housing over only a portion of the length of the receiving bore while permitting tilting of the spindle housing in the receiving bore. Between the spindle rail and the ring flange and/or the nut, an adjusting ring is arranged which can be rotated when the nut is at least loosened. The adjusting ring is constructed as a non-uniform spacing element, by the rotating of which the relative position of the spindle housing and the spindle rail can be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 4495758
Abstract: A wrapped yarn forming apparatus is disclosed, which is adapted to form a wrapped yarn composed of a core strand, such as a yarn sliver, and a binder strand which is spirally wrapped about the core strand. The apparatus includes a hollow spindle adapted to coaxially mount a supply package of the binder strand, yarn feed means for advancing the core strand through the spindle, and yarn take-up means for winding the resulting wrapped yarn into a package. In the event of yarn breakage, means are provided for interrupting the drives of the various components, and also for terminating the continued withdrawal of the binder strand from its supply package and the continued wind-up of such strand on the take-up package, which would normally occur where only the core strand is broken. Thus piece-up of the apparatus is facilitated by avoiding the necessity of removing the wound binder strand from the take-up package.

  • Patent number: 4462558
Abstract: A yarn package and a method and apparatus for producing the same are disclosed, and wherein the package is composed of a yarn wound in layers of decreasing axial length so as to define a central cylindrical portion and opposite end portions. In order to protectively shield the exposed ends of the yarn layers within at least one of the tapered end portions, the outermost layer is extended so as to overlie and entirely cover such one tapered end portion. In addition, selected intermediate yarn layers may be extended axially a distance sufficient to overlie and cover essentially all of the underlying layers on such one end portion to protect and stabilize the underlying yarn layers.

  • Patent number: 4389837
Abstract: The invention involves a ply or wrapped yarn spinning assembly of the type having a drawing unit supplying a sliver through one or more hollow spindles, at which hollow spindles a binding thread is wrapped spirally around the sliver to form yarn. Yarn condition monitors detect the yarn condition and the supply of binding thread. In the event of a malfunction, including exhaustion of binding thread at a hollow spindle, the monitors automatically disengage the supply of sliver by pivoting open a load bearing member of the drawing unit. In preferred embodiments the monitors also actuate mechanical actuators for pivoting driving or driven rollers of the hollow spindles, yarn take-off rolls, and a yarn windup device of the spinning assembly. An auxiliary thread bobbin and associated cutter mechanisms are also provided to facilitate restarting after a malfunction and shutdown.
