  • Patent number: 6449513
Abstract: According to a method of inhibiting pain pulses in the nerves of humans and animals and a device for carrying out the method the positive pole of an electrically uncharged capacitor is contacted with the skin surface around the place of pain in the body or the excited nerve from outside or fixedly applied there. In an excitation state, caused by a state of pain, of the nerves the pulse-like voltage peaks, which arise on voltage reversal in the nerves, are reduced or completely smoothed out by the electric flux of the capacitor.

  • Patent number: 4955450
Abstract: Lifting equipment 4 for turning a four-wheeled vehicle on the spot to facilitate maneuvering, which equipment can be driven mechanically, pneumatically, hydraulically or electrically, is arranged at the underside of the vehicle and comprises a spindle-driven jack with a ground-engaging member 22. The jack is so positioned that the supporting moment provided by the member acts on the vehicle longitudinal centre line but is offset relative to the vehicle centre of gravity 3. The offset is such, in the case of a vehicle with front wheel or four wheel drive, that the rear wheels are lifted off the ground and the jack carries 60 to 80% of the vehicle weight, the partially relieved front wheels carrying the rest of the weight. Transmission of drive to the turned front wheels in this state results in the pivoting of the vehicle about the member, with the driven front wheels spinning or slipping against the roadway.

  • Patent number: 4194390
Abstract: A method of ascertaining the state of aggregation of a medium, whereby the flow of the medium is directed to a first of a series of two or more coaxially arranged nozzle means, further the initial pressure of said medium ahead of said series of nozzle means is compared with a further pressure, said pressure generated when following nozzles are flowed at directly through a respective preceding nozzle via a closed space arranged between two or more nozzles or following the final nozzle, and the correspondingly generated differential pressure is utilized as measurement value for indication of the state of aggregation and if necessary directly or indirectly for controlling the flow of said medium.

  • Patent number: 4030296
Abstract: A device for rotating a turbine, particularly during starting, comprises a positive displacement-type main oil pump which has a main pump suction which is connected to the discharge of a high pressure oil pump which also has a connection to supply oil to the bearings. An auxiliary oil pump is mechanically coupled to the high pressure pump and it is also hydraulically connected in series to the high pressure pump. When the pressure builds up between the high pressure pump and the main pump, the main pump may be driven as a motor by the high pressure pump to effect a turning of the turbine.

  • Patent number: 4026327
Abstract: A rapid opening valve assembly has a housing in which there is positioned a cylinder body slidably receiving, in a cylinder chamber, a valve piston which maintains the valve assembly in an open or closed state. The valve piston has an axial extension which constitutes a spindle and which is received in a spindle chamber formed in the cylinder body. The valve piston is urged into the closed position by a spring, the force of which is opposed by the pressure in the high pressure side of the valve assembly, seeking to move the valve piston away from its seat. In the valve piston there is provided a servochamber which receives a slidable servopiston cooperating with a servovalve seat also carried by the valve piston. The servopiston is urged against its seat by a servospring, the force of which is opposed by the cylinder chamber pressure admitted to an end face of the servopiston through a channel provided in the valve piston.

  • Patent number: 4019713
Abstract: A rapid shutoff extraction check valve has a movable valve body cooperating with a valve seat that divides a valve housing into an upstream housing chamber communicating with the valve inlet and a downstream housing chamber communicating with the valve outlet. The movable valve body is displaceably supported by an actuating piston which is slidably received in a guide cylinder enclosing a pressure chamber. The actuating piston has a radial face exposed to pressure in the downstream housing chamber. An auxiliary valve forming part of the rapid shutoff check valve has a first position in which communication is maintained between one housing chamber and the pressure chamber and a second position in which the pressure chamber is vented. In the first position of the auxiliary valve the actuating piston exerts a closing force on the movable valve body.

  • Patent number: 4004604
Abstract: Apparatus for draining a condensate from a steam-containing system. A cascade section is adapted for connection to or into the system and provides two throttle points with a pressure chamber therebetween and a valve body disposed in the pressure chamber, same being sensitive to any changes in the physical nature of the medium in the cascade section between the vapor and liquid phases so as to be effective to open the cascade section and permit a liquid flow and yet prevent a vapor flow therethrough.
