Patent number: 11413732Abstract: A control method of an impact wrench for setting an expansion anchor carries out a first sequence in response to a button being pressed. In a first phase, a rotary impact is repeatedly exerted on a screw element of the expansion anchor and a torque transmitted from the rotary impact to the screw head is estimated. The first phase S1 is continued until the estimated transmitted torque exceeds a threshold value specified for the expansion anchor. In a second phase, a number of rotary impacts specified for the expansion anchor are exerted on the screw head. If the button is released before the end of the first sequence, a premature release of the button and the phase in which the button was released is stored in a memory. In response to the button being pressed when a premature release is stored in the memory, a second sequence is carried which depends on the phase in which the button was previously released.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2018Date of Patent: August 16, 2022Assignee: Hilti AktiengesellschaftInventor: Hans-Dieter Gaul

Patent number: 11292112Abstract: A setting method for expansion anchors via an impact wrench has a first phase S1 and a second phase S2. In the first phase, a rotary impact is repeatedly exerted on a screw element of the expansion anchor and a torque transmitted from the rotary impact to the screw head is estimated. The first phase S1 is ended when the estimated transmitted torque exceeds a threshold value specified for the expansion anchor. During the second phase, a first number of rotary impacts specified for the expansion anchor are exerted on the screw head. A current rate of change of the estimated torque is monitored at least during the first phase. In response to the current rate of change exceeding a limit value for the rate of change specified for the expansion anchor, a modified second phase is started, in which a second number of rotary impacts specified for the expansion anchor are exerted on the screw head, the second number being less than the first number.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2018Date of Patent: April 5, 2022Assignee: Hilti AktiengesellschaftInventor: Hans-Dieter Gaul

Patent number: 10589407Abstract: A method for setting an expansion anchor by a power tool, and a power tool that performs the method, is disclosed. In an embodiment, the method includes exerting rotary impacts on the expansion anchor in order to expand an expansion sleeve in dependence on a first rotational speed until a tightening torque corresponds to a threshold value, exerting a predetermined number of rotary impacts on the expansion anchor in dependence on the first rotational speed, and exerting rotary impacts on the expansion anchor by the power tool in dependence on a generated second rotational speed for a predetermined period of time.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2015Date of Patent: March 17, 2020Assignee: Hilti AktiengesellschaftInventor: Hans-Dieter Gaul

Publication number: 20170232589Abstract: A method for setting an expansion anchor by a power tool, and a power tool that performs the method, is disclosed. In an embodiment, the method includes applying rotational impacts to the expansion anchor in accordance with a first rotational speed until a rotational angle per time interval of an output shaft of the power tool falls below a predetermined threshold value and applying rotational impacts to the expansion anchor in accordance with a reduced second rotational speed for a predetermined duration.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2015Publication date: August 17, 2017Applicant: Hilti AktiengesellschaftInventor: Hans-Dieter GAUL
