  • Patent number: 5865090
Abstract: The present invention relates to a piston pump, in particular to the arrangement of the bearing ring for supporting the pump piston on an eccentric. The pump bearing includes a bearing ring and a plurality of bearing needles. The peripheral surface of the eccentric is radially inwardly offset in relation to the peripheral surface of the shaft. The two stepped transitions provide stop surfaces for the bearing needles. The bearing ring is supported on an inner ring for a main bearing, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, directly or indirectly on the stepped transition between a second area and a third area in a blind-end bore. Further, an auxiliary bearing is provided with a bearing ring which is made of a material inhering a high degree of wear. Testing the electric motor, used to drive the piston pump, before the piston pump is assembled is thereby permitted.

  • Patent number: 5801467
Abstract: An electric motor is presented whose housing is sealed off by a plate. The plate features an opening whose inner surface serves as a slide bearing for the shaft, whereby the slide bearing is sufficient for operating the electric motor in a trial run. In addition, a protrusion is provided that can be inserted into a first step of a hole drilled in the pump housing and secures the plate in position in the radial direction on the flanged surface of the pump housing. The outer edge of the plate is formed by a collar, over which the housing can be pushed. Thus, the housing is also fixed in place relative to the plate. overall, a centering of the housing about the motor shaft.

  • Patent number: 5722738
Abstract: The present invention relates to a hydraulic brake system which operates by the feedback principle during brake slip control operations and includes a self-priming pump that aspirates pressure fluid from a pressure fluid reservoir for traction slip control operations. In order to improve the delivery rate of the pump, having a parallel arrangement of the two suction valves, a special construction of the pump assembly is proposed, wherein the two suction valves are integrated in the pump housing. Advantageously, the suction valves are in axially opposed relationship, and the first suction valve is arranged on the movable piston, and the second suction valve is connected with a screw cap. Further, a pump for a slip-controlled hydraulic brake system according to the present invention is suggested having at least one suction valve with a valve seat, a closure member and a valve spring, the preload of the valve spring being variable in response to the position of a delivery piston.

  • Patent number: 5653249
Abstract: A method for closing channels containing pressure fluid in a housing, so that the dynamic load applied to the housing and the closing member during the pressing process is minimized. Thus a pressing force with a defined direction and entity acts discontinuously on the closing member, the latter realizes a discontinuous feed motion directed into the channel, acting only on the housing material at the recess of the closing member producing the form-lock to yield into the recess due to the discontinuous force impact on the closing member.

  • Patent number: 5540487
Abstract: Following a general trend, the present invention provides an anti-locking hydraulic brake system to which a brake force controller has been added. However, as opposed to the prior state of art, the brake force controller (21) according to the invention is blocked only once the pump (18) builds up pressure. This means that in any uncritical deceleration, the brake force controller (21) performs its pressure reducing function as soon as the switch-over pressure thereof is attained. This will involve the advantage over other brake force controls actuated only upon failure of the anti-locking function that jamming or seizing of operative elements of the controller is prevented from occurring and that, in addition, a slip control will be required less frequently.

  • Patent number: 5484194
Abstract: A brake pressure control unit for use in an anti-lock brake control system and that includes the capability of providing traction slip control. An accumulator is connected through a switch valve to a pressure line on the discharge side of a pump. The switch valve is opened when a braking operation is initiated during a traction slip control action. The accumulator, which accommodates a corresponding volume of hydraulic fluid, is provided in order to ensure the hydraulic fluid supplied to the brake circuit during traction slip control cannot return to the reservoir and damage the master cylinder sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5417484
Abstract: A hydraulic change-over valve is adapted for a vehicle brake system with anti-lock control and traction slip control which operates according to the return delivery principle during an anti-lock control operation and the self-priming pump of which takes in pressure fluid through the master brake cylinder during a traction slip control operation. The change-over valve is arranged in the suction line between a pump and a master brake cylinder and shuts off the connection during each pedal-operated braking operation and opens it during each traction slip control operation. To avoid negative effects on the brake pedal feeling, restrictors are provided which prolong the closing time of the switch-over valve so that the fluid volume for switching is received gradually and continuously. The switching position is determined by a diaphragm, whose effective surface depends on its flexure to afford a non-stick-slip operation.

  • Patent number: 5388898
Abstract: A hydraulic antilock brake system is described, with a multi-way valve hydraulically switched to connect the brake pressure generator (1) to the wheel brake (2), controlling, in response to the pump pressure prevailing in the auxiliary pressure conduit (4), the pressure fluid connection between the brake pressure generator (1) and the wheel brake (2). The valve (3) is switched by pump pressure in the absence of pressure from the brake pressure generator, but held or switched open if the brake pressure generator is operated. This allows a low-cost adaption to traction slip control with no need for additional electronic controls while substantially preserving the basic circuit configuration, especially the electronic control system.

  • Patent number: 5383718
Abstract: A brake system which can be employed both for brake slip control and for traction slip control, wherein the brake slip control is performed according to the return delivery principle, while an open-loop system is set up during traction slip control. In order to manage with the same pump (10) in both cases, a valve system composed of a first non-return valve (16) and a second non-return valve (17) is provided at the suction side of the pump. The opening pressure of the first non-return valve (16) is greater than that of the second non-return valve (17). Further, the initial pressure of a low-pressure accumulator (9) is in excess of the opening pressure of the first non-return valve (16). The first non-return valve (16) is operative during brake slip control, while the second non-return valve (17) is operative during traction slip control. Switch-over can be effected for instance by the master cylinder pressure via a control line (18).

  • Patent number: 5350226
Abstract: An anti-lock hydraulic brake system is described wherein a throttle valve has a restrictive flow condition which becomes effective in the brake line in the event of brake slip control. Pumps for reapply pressure deliver fluid to the wheel brake via this restriction and regulating the pressure in the wheel brake is performed by control of an outlet valve. The throttle valve is operated hydraulically by various arrangements including the application of pump pressure, or by wheel brake pressure applied upon opening of the outlet valve at the start of an anti-lock control cycle.

  • Patent number: 5290098
Abstract: A hydraulic anti-locking brake unit is presented in which the brake line is shut off by an isolating valve 20 during a control action. For the reduction of the pressure, the outlet valve 7 is opened, so that the pump 14 delivers hydraulic fluid out of the wheel brake into the high-pressure accumulator 19. For a renewed pressure build-up, the inlet valve 6 is opened, so that hydraulic fluid flow is directed out of the high pressure accumulator 19 to the wheel brake. In order to be able to utilize a high pressure accumulator having a low receiving capacity, various valving arrangements are disclosed to direct excess flow from the pump either to the master cylinder or a low pressure accumulator.

  • Patent number: 5231913
Abstract: A process for adjusting the travel sensor for a brake power booster movable wall is disclosed to compensate for tolerance variations, in which a fixed stop is installed to engage the output member upon applying a predetermined input force to shift the movable wall to a test location. The distance to the test location of the movable wall from a booster housing reference surface is measured with a measuring instrument installed temporarily in the booster housing opening normally receiving the travel sensor.
