  • Patent number: 4570978
Abstract: A rotary coupling for the introduction of liquid and/or gaseous media into the drum of a continuous flow washing machine movable in the housing possessing a number of annular chambers (64, 66, 68, 69, 71) arranged coaxially to one another and separated from one another, which are formed between two separating disks (55, 63, 65, 67, 70, 72). In the middle region of each annular chamber, at least one pipe connection (91, 84) is introduced which is led out from the device in the axial direction outward, penetrating the adjacent annular chambers in a liquid and/or gas tight manner. In addition, radially outward running pipe connections (97) enter the annular chambers, and moreover, each annular chamber is contructed by housing elements of the first and second kind (51, 55 . . . ) rotatable against each other, of which each of the first kind and of the second kind at any given time is arranged to revolve around each other.

  • Patent number: 4517695
Abstract: A method and apparatus for balancing of out-of-balance forces in centrifuges or combined washing machines-spin driers comprising a drum with horizontal rotation axis initially being brought to a relatively low speed of rotation, which is at least of the magnitude such that all laundry clings to the drum wall. At this rotation speed the out-of-balance force is measured and compared with a set value. This set value is selected to be of such size that its out-of-balance force surpasses the permissible out-of-balance force, projected to the final rotary spinning speed, by at least 30 percent. If such a value surpassing the permissible out-of-balance force was measured as a value disposed below the set value, then the acceleration to the final rotary spinning speed is turned on.

  • Patent number: 4432111
Abstract: The invention concerns a procedure and a mechanism for washing textiles in a tub-type washing machine with a horizontally arranged tub, in which during the washing and rinsing cycles the tub is driven with a rotational velocity at which the centrifugal velocity at the tub case is between 0.4 and 0.95 g, so that the textiles are repeatedly lifted up, and then fall in a trajectory onto the lower portion of the tub, and that between the washing and rinsing cycles and after the last rinsing cycle the tub is driven at spin speed, and in which the washing or rinsing liquid is led into the suds container and is supplied to the textiles by immersing the tub in the liquid or by at least one spray nozzle spraying into the tub continuously or at intervals.

  • Patent number: 4344198
Abstract: The specification describes a procedure for the washing of clothes in a washing machine with a horizontal, perforated, driven tub arranged inside a housing, in which during the washing and rinsing cycles the clothes are repeatedly lifted up, and then fall in a trajectory onto the lower portion of the tub, and are then distributed and pressed against the tub wall, largely without unbalance, as the tub velocity is gradually increased, and are then centrifuged as the velocity is increased further.

  • Patent number: 4249400
Abstract: A press for extracting water from wet washing comprises a housing, a perforated press floor for supporting a batch of wet washing, and a hydraulic ram for pressing the wet washing down against the press floor. The hydraulic ram is constituted by a generally bell-shaped diaphragm carrier whose open end is closed by a bowed-in, flexible diaphragm. The hollow interior of the diaphragm carrier is pressurizable with hydraulic fluid. A charging frame is provided to assist with the uniform pressing of wet washing while helping prevent damage to the washing arising from jamming. The charging frame is movable with the diaphragm carrier towards the press floor.

  • Patent number: 4192518
Abstract: A sealing device is disclosed which is particularly useful in connection with an aperture in a partition wall through which a rotating drum extends. The sealing device may be used to seal one side of the wall from the other. The sealing device may find applicability to situations where different conditions are maintained on opposite sides of the partition wall. For example, the drum may be a washing machine drum in a hospital laundry, and the partition wall may separate an area where aseptic conditions are maintained from an area which is not aseptic.

  • Patent number: 4094172
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for adding and/or removing fluid media in a rotatable drum, such as a rotating washing machine drum, comprising a pair of flanges attached to the outer periphery of the drum and spaced apart to define an annular space extending around the drum, an elastically yielding sealing member attached to each flange and extending inwardly into the annular space where their sealing lips abut to form a seal in a generally radially extending sealing plane, fluid passageways extending through the wall of the drum in the region between the flanges, and means positioned in the sealing plane for spreading the sealing lips apart, preferably a flat tapered conduit or one or more tapered disks. In another embodiment a sealing device is disclosed having only one flange and one elastically yielding sealing member in association with an annular plate fixed to a partition wall through which the drum extends.

  • Patent number: 4052796
Abstract: An apparatus for treating a web of material of indefinite length consists of a generally rectangular chamber having a single opening at the top and a screen arranged within the chamber to asymmetrically sag in a shape of approximately elliptical cross-section and means for introducing a web treatment medium into the chamber. This apparatus is advantageously combined with a flow-through reversible drum treatment chamber having within a casing a periodically reversed rotating drum through which a web of material is received in the relaxed state travelling continuously through the interior of the drum and means for controllably conditioning air and introducing the air into the drum.
