  • Patent number: 4673786
Abstract: An electrical resistance grid welding machine for welding a family of wires as it passes through the machine along a feedpath into a strip of welded mesh which has a row of electrodes and a row of counterelectrodes arranged above and below the family of wires. The electrodes and counterelectrodes are supported at intervals by separate electrode beams which are driven back and forth, thus coupling the electrodes and counterelectrodes in a common motion. Pressure beams, which are connected to the electrode beams by rigid connectors, can be driven only perpendicular to the feed path. These pressure beams transmit the welding pressure to the electrodes but permit the electrode beams to carry out their reciprocating motion. The electrodes are guided in their associated electrode beam so as to be able to shift in the beam and are loaded by springs.

  • Patent number: 4444227
Abstract: A mechanism for bending a coplanar family of straight wires into zig-zags comprises deflector rollers for feeding the family of wires longitudinally in parallel with one another, bars adapted to be displaced transversely to the wires and carrying wire deflector pins, and a control device for moving the bars alternately in opposite directions transversely of the wires. In order to avoid sliding of the wires against the deflector pins during the bending operation, each bar is hinged to the one ends of at least two parallel bearer arms of equal length and pivotally supported about axes running perpendicular to the plane of bend. During each bending operation only one bar at a time can be displaced transversely by means of the control device to carry out a working stroke.

  • Patent number: 4439658
Abstract: The disclosure relates to the production by means of an electrical resistance welding method, of grids formed from metal wires crossing over another. The grid wires are carried through between rows of cooperating electrodes and, under pressure, are welded together at the cross points of the wires by an electric current. Each cross point of the wires and the surfaces of the associated electrodes of the grid welding machine, which lie in the welding region, are subjected to the action of a liquid coolant to increase the life of the electrodes and reduce distortion of the grid due to the localized heating of the wires.

  • Patent number: 4399342
Abstract: A grating of metal longitudinal strips (1) standing on edge in parallel with one another and narrower metal cross-strips (3) parallel with one another, is (for the achievement of higher load capacity) produced in such a way that in the longitudinal strips (1) slots (2) of changing width are incorporated, in which the inside width of the slot at the open end of the slot is chosen to the greater than, but on the contrary remote from this end of the slot is chosen to be less than the thickness of the cross-strips (3), cross-strips (3) are inserted into these slots (2) with the application to the strips (1, 3) of a welding voltage serving for the resistance welding, and with the application of pressure in the direction of insertion, so that material driven out from the edges of the slots forms weld beads (9) at the points of intersection of the strips.

  • Patent number: 4249841
Abstract: Wires are picked from a loose bundle of wires which have been cut to length, prior to feeding to a processing machine such as a grid welding machine. The bundle is laid on a supporting table (23) so that end parts of the wires project freely beyond the table. A lifting beam (18) having a vertical slot (19) is then raised beneath the projecting end parts of the wires so that most of the wires are raised but the others are received one above the other in the slot. A gripper having clamping cheeks (20) is applied from below and grips the lowermost wire in the slot. The gripper is mounted on a carrier (2) which is movable parallel to the wire axes to pull the gripped wire longitudinally out of the slot.
