  • Patent number: 6154909
Abstract: In a method for suppressing the formation of sulfuric acid aerosols in exhaust gas purification systems, the exhaust gas is presprayed with water so that the temperature does not drop below the dew point of sulfuric acid in the exhaust gas, with this spraying taking place upstream from the gas scrubber, upstream from a prescrubber present in addition to the gas scrubber or upstream from a heat exchanger which is in turn upstream from the scrubber, and the gaseous sulfuric acid is absorbed by the water before the temperature drops below the dew point of the sulfuric acid.
